So who fancies a trip the UK next year? Can we organise a team? Or is it purely going to be North America & Europe?

Are you allowed to play for us or do you need a clearance? Laughing

Maybe we can get sponsors for a national team. Rolling Eyes We could try the Woolmark group that sponsor the Olympic team, if we all wear Sportswool during the event. Cool

Selecting the team will be a problem. It might be a case of anyone who can afford the fare makes the team. Just getting to CanCon each year is a major trip for me. Besides I visited England for a week, 30 years ago, so I don't need to go there again. Wink

What rules will it be using? If its LRB5+, no. If its LRB4, and in 2007, I could probably save up for it and go.
CyberHare - Feb 17, 2006 - 04:43 AM
Post subject:
It will be LRB4. All other reasons aside the one that stands out is the simple fact that not everyone will be firmiliar with any other version by then. There will be enough confusion when it comes to the different languages involved without throwing a brand new rule set into the mix.

Hmm, I think I'll put down as a provisional yes then.

Oh hell, its in March, which is birthday month. Thats it, I'm there.

Post subject:
I think it may be a pretty self-selecting team. If we can get enough... maybe we can pick up the odd UK based aussie too if we need to make up the numbers. I'm a provisional yes at this stage.

OK, so we need 8 players - thats going to be tough.

Come on peoples, Australia needs you!

Well if Ian can play for Australia with HIS accent then surely I can play with mine!

WILL there be hard rules about this? Or is "I live there" enough?

But I am SOOOOO saving for this trip. I will also be looking to get some gigs while I am there...who knows, with a full book I could stick around for "The Big Blood Bowl tourney" as well! Wink

BUt very exciting concept....who is our capitain? Selectors?

I know it is a year away..but good to get ready...team shirts, hats..hell, wouldn't it be cool to all have our teams painted in our Countries colours ?!?

Oh man I am excited about this!

It never occured to me that I wouldn't be eligable Smile I'll be permanent resident by then. Are there going to be objections if we put on the green and gold? There probably shouldn't be any competition for places. If there is, maybe we can just get Babs to adjudicate? He's said he won't go so ought to be reasonably neutral and as the NAF RTO its his responsibility anyway.

Hey, Oz, this is the Old Man Monkey... you mentioned getting some gigs?
What do you play?

Oz is a stand up comedian OMM.

I reckon they should hire him for a gig at the World Cup, so's he can finally do an entire gig based on BB (yes he does often slip a BB bit in there).

Why wouldn't Babs go??? Having the #2 Dark Elf coach AND the #43 High Elf surely would be a bonus! Wink

(and dammit that number will be smaller come cup time!)

But surely it will be in Australia once we win this one?
Babs - Mar 02, 2006 - 02:31 PM

Heres the major reasons why 2007 is a no go.

#1. I'm a chalkie. Which means I cannot pick when my holidays off work are. Sure I get 10 weeks a year, but they are locked in location as school holidays - and March is not one of those time slots.

#2. In 2007 I will be rebuilding our house. From the ground up. Which means that it will be crazy over here for me in real life. It may even mean I can't run CanCon - which is why I asked for a seconder. As I'm Owner-building I need to be near the worksite at all times.

#3. Because of #2 I cannot afford it. I need to save every penny I can. Simply running CanCon costs me $270 in lost pay. Costing me $1500 in airfare, before the lost pay comes into effect, is just too much for me. I'd rather spend that money on building my games room Smile

So that's the short reasons. Apologies. It's not like I don't _want_ to. I'd love to visit England.
OZjesting - Mar 04, 2006 - 05:48 PM
Post subject:
Who said anything about "visiting England" ?!? I don't tour Canberra during CanCon...I just want to play!

Well this sounds very cool!

I'd love to be part of the team for the inaugral comp in 2007 but it is quite likely that I'll not be able to afford the trip Sad what with other expenses I already have planned for this year.

Hmm, I might possibly be able to some fund raising on my own behalf (AKA hitting up relatives for a loan Wink )

For me too!

Edit:

Ok so I've spoken to the other person involved and decided to postpone one of the aforementioned expenses which means I should be able to afford it now Very Happy So count me in!

Good day Autralian team.

As one of europes most experient Eurobowl Freebooters I offer you my humble skills. And my usual price will be the mesh of the team I will play in.

So far I got an italian, spanish and an austrian. Very Happy

So who is the team captain, if there is one?

And if you want a second opinion about me just ask norse.

...Glorian Underhill? The whore of european blood bowl ....

Just to confirm that I'm "in".

I'm a Pom and resident in NZ - quite good qualifications for Team Australia, I think.

So Team Anzac I guess it is...

Just had a thought (what with Leviathan this weekend and all) that we might like to nominate now which team we each are thinking of taking (seeing as each coach has to take a different race). This would then allow those who would like to (or need to like me Wink ) to take that team to the various cons over the next year, or otherwise get practice in with them.

oz has seemed to indicate he intends to take high elves. I'm thinking I should probably take my Pro Elves as the team I've had the most tournament (ie LRB4) experience with, not to mention being about the only team I have that is up to scratch appearance wise (IMO of course). So which team do the rest of you think you'd like to take?
Chunky - Apr 20, 2006 - 07:18 PM

Thats a good idea Dave. I'm pretty flexible when it comes to what team I play, so I'll probably leave mine to fill in later on. I dare say Humans would be my first preference though.

Is there going to be a restriction on one instance of a race per team? In that case I'm happy with 'zons, Orcs, High Elves or gobbos. Very Happy

We also should have a team name... all aussie teams are named after Australian animals (or plants). How about the BlueBottles?

Also it might we worth asking Neil about some sort of sponsorship. Maybe he's pay of "Team Australia, sponsored by Shadowforge" T Shirts or something.

I'm perfectly happy playing 'zons and I reckon I'll do just as well with them. Very Happy Part of me really wants to play gobbos, but unless there is some rule about each team having to have one stunty team then its probably not going to help our overall results.

sup all,
I'd actually be interested in the tourney.
Unfortunately I dont know exactly what's going on at this stage, but the plan is that I'll be studing in France from sept this year to jul next year, so It'd be a train ride away!

And oz has the right idea - I'd DEFINITELY paint my team in aussie colours... excitement plus eh?

Spain & Italy both have fairly active tournament circuits too. You really should try and get yourself to the 2007 Blood Bowl. Just the experience of being at a 200 coach tournament (in Warhammer World) is well worth it. Anyway, all that travel costs money so you better start saving immediately after Euc Bowl Very Happy

Post subject: Calling all Kiwi coaches for the BB world cup
Would all Kiwi coaches interested in going to the world cup please let me know?

I want to know numbers as soon as possible, in order to judge whether a Team Kiwi is likely to happen, or whether we would need (potentially) to amalgamate with Team Oz or its remnant (if not Team Anzac, then at least Team Norfolk Island).

Dear Oz, what are your views on such a potential amalgamation?

Please let me know ASAP by replyihg to this post.

All the best
