Post subject: CCKO 2011-- January 29th&30th--Ottawa,ON,CAN
The tourney has been submitted for approval and has been booked at The Montgomery Legion for January 29th & 30th, 2011. The ruleset will remain consistent with the previous CCKO Tournies. Team Value of 1100K with 80 K for skills. This will be followed by a Skillz Draft after Round 3 of the Tourney to level the playing field.

Can't wait for the tourney and should be great times as usual. If the Deathbowl was any indication you never know what could happen Shocked

If anyone has any questions feel free to ask and I will respond as quickly as possible. Take care all and hope to see many of you in the year ahead.

Adam.

I will definitely be making it out to this one. Going to be making sure that I bring another new team - only five more to go before I have played all 24 teams in tourney play!

I'm in the same boat as you Dan, just made arrangements now to switch it so it wasn't a problem later. It was also because it is the Pro Bowl weekend in the NFL which nobody cares about really. It has always been that week so we figured to keep it the same would be best. Hope your able to swing things bro.

that skill draft sounds interesting, how does that work?
Rando - Nov 02, 2010 - 09:42 AM
Post subject: RE: Re: RE: CCKO 2011-- January 29th&30th--Ottawa,ON,CAN
From what I remember, there is a fixed list of skills and the highest rank player picks one, then everyone else, and then it goes from the bottom back up. As skills are selected they are crossed off the list. Generally, there is one complete set of skills for every 8 coachs.

I believe the lowest ranked coach gets to pick first.

I also believe that it happens after game 4 before we all go home for the night.

Post subject: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: CCKO 2011-- January 29th&30th--Ottaw
Yes, you are correct. The multiples of the number of skills available depends on the number of coaches. But basically last picks first and order is determined by reverse standings after game three (mid point of the tournament). Its pretty fun, and gives the lower ranked coaches a chance to climb back up the standings a bit. It's also interesting to see what people pick in the later rounds when all the commonly picked skills are taken.
Notorious_jtb - Nov 02, 2010 - 10:50 AM
Post subject: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: CCKO 2011-- January 29th&30th--Ottaw
Absolutely, it tries to recreate the draft concept from NA sports with "help" for the least successful to aid parity. It is pretty fun!

There is one set of each improvement for every 12 players or part thereof.
This allows each coach to pick 4 improvements (one in each round).
Grumbledook - Nov 02, 2010 - 12:29 PM
Post subject: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: CCKO 2011-- January 29th&30th--Ottaw
I don't follow, you say the draft happens after round 3, how many skills do they get to pick in the draft?

The picks snake back and forth 4 times, so they get to pick 4 skills total? Can they only take normal skills, or can the last place player take Block first and give it to their Big Guy for example?

How long does it normally take to run through it?
Notorious_jtb - Nov 02, 2010 - 01:34 PM
Post subject: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: CCKO 2011-- January 29th&30th--Ottaw
Pick 4 skills.
1 per round.
Draft order is the same each round.
Can draft block for your big guys.
Stat increases are available.
Can't draft skills for players who could not get them on a normal or doubles roll. E.g no mutations for humans/dwarfs etc.
Time depends on number of coaches. We have done it for a few years now so we are pretty fast, and we often say just 30 seconds per pick too. maybe under an hour these days.

From the 2010 ruleset

"Skills Draft

After the third game, there will be a skills draft where
coaches may select new skills/improvements. A
coach may only select improvements which are
accessible to their race through normal skill selection.
No player may gain more than two
skills/improvements during the tournament from
whatever source.
Each coach will be given one minute to pick a
skill/improvement. If the coach does not pick within
that one minute, they lose their spot and the next
coach picks. The coach will get to pick a skill at the
end of the round rather at their selection time. Each
coach may pick one skill/improvement per round.
There will be four rounds in the draft; therefore each
coach will select four skills/improvements.
The draft order will be seeded by tournament position
at the end of play after the third game. Only
tournament points from gaming will be used to
determine ranking. The team with the lowest ranking
will pick first and the other coaches will follow in
reverse ranking order, i.e. first place will chose last,
and last place will chose first in each and every
round. The draft order will be the same for each
round.
For each 12 players, or part thereof, there will be one
full set of skills and improvements available for the
draft. Because of the limited number of skills
available during the draft, the lower ranked coaches
will have a better chance to select the more sought
after skills, (i.e. stat increases, block, dodge, guard),
while the higher ranked coaches will be forced to be
choose less common skills. The result of this will
hopefully give the lower ranked coaches a chance to
make their way back up the ranks, and also result in
less common skills combinations being selected for
some teams."

I'll be probably away at the end of april, so unable to defend my Qermitt title. Therefore, I need to win nother canadian tournament. The dates are not to bad so far, so I can still dream of making it to kick some east cost asses Wink

Just to be sure:

the team is TV 110, so only players / RR / FF / cheerleader / assit can be purchased, right ?

and then we have 80k on top of that to buy skills.

Hey Lizardcore,

The TV is 1100k TOTAL. You can build your team with 1020K and use the 80K to purchase skills if you like. Some people go with an extra player or reroll instead but most take 4 regular skills with the money. Hope you can make it out so you can be brought back down to earth!! Razz

Happy New Year to all and with the new year we get closer to kicking off the 2011 Bloodbowl Season. Everything is ready to go for the upcoming CCKO Tourney. Just finalizing a couple of things with Glenn over the next couple days and we're good to go. The ruleset has not changed since last year so everyone knows. For a brief overview you can look at CCKO under the upcoming tournies section. The website is currently "under construction" from what Eric has said and will hopefully be open for pre-registration soon. Looking forward to kicking off a new year of Bloodbowl with you all on the 29th-30th of January!! If anyone has any questions or concerns feel free and I'll get back to you asap.

Take care everyone,

Adam

Hey Gents,

Eric has the website up and running again and has reset the registration page so you are all able to sign up again. As a sidenote the date on the tourney website is last year's date currently so please disregard. The tourney is scheduled for the 29th and 30th of January 2011. If you can please register when you have a chance, so we have a rough idea as to who is able to make it and can plan accordingly. Thank you in advance and I hope to see many of you in the coming months of the 2011 Bloodbowl Season, Take care,

Dude, I ALWAYS talk crap at a tourney. More often than not I am somewhere in the middle of the pack, so do not feel like a giant heel.

But what can I say. That was a tourney against Americans. Beating a bunch of Yanks at Blood Bowl is like winnning an arm-wrestling competition at a nursery school. Very Happy

Colin also putting in a noteworthy effort to take over top spot only one point behind the leaders. 1st Place: Laurent David, great job again my friend. Although a few people did give him a run for there money Very Happy
2nd Place: Colin Keillar, who represented the "aggressive" style of playing Skaven very well.
3rd Place: Andy Snyder, showed the strength of the Orc in just edging out Matt to reach the podium by .16 in the standings.

Most TD's: Colin with 15 followed by Laurent with 14, Matt & Chris with 12.
Most CAS: Laurent and Ryan finish tied with 16 but Laurent pulls through with a tie breaker to win, Tristan also finished just behind with 15.
Best Team: Craig pulls through with his freshly painted Dark Elves (Nice job Spazz!)

Rising Star (Most Improved): Matt Cator takes home the award just finishing slightly off of podium representing the High Elves well.
Best Sportsmanship: Rob Keefe winning the award after a 3 way tie was broken up with Andy and myself by the crowd Razz
Bitch Stick (Last Place): Eric had a tough luck tourney with his High Elves, don't worry Eric one of these days things will just click for you buddy.
Lastly...The Brass Ass: Chris taking the award for what we believe is the 3rd time lol. May have to rename the trophy in the near future.

I'm also glad I learned a couple of stuff from Matt (beware the High Elves ! ), from Colin (I might play Skaven at the CO, casualty payback time for you guys), Adam (dude, I remembered your double skull each single game and I was thinking "no, don't make an Adam", you should trademark it !), Andy and Dagger (another of winning a game is to make sure the opponent can't reach his minis Very Happy ) and from Spazz (the nicest the team, the worst the coach Very Happy). And the draft was awesome, it forces me to take skills that I wouldn't have, but allowed me to win !

And finally, thanks a lot to the Jones family for the hosting, the feeding, the love and the tears Smile

Can't wait the CO !

I would like to thank the Jones family for once again putting on a great tournament; Andy beating Matt by .16 will be a great joke for many months to come!

I would also like to thank Mark and his wife for once again letting us stay at his place.

No problem Laurent glad you could make it out, Rnd 1 was random and happened to place you there too bad I wasn't able to remove you because I got greedy and rolled that double skull. Will teach me to take my TD's from now on. As for trademarking..don't think so as it won't happen again! Wink
See you soon buddy.

Those F You dice were awesome...even though I rolled way too many of them throughout the tourney myself! Had an awesome time against my opponents even the losses ended up being exciting games. Gotta love what elves can do in desperate situations Razz too bad they were usually followed by an F YOU finger Sad hope to make it to CO, will have to see with the date change.

Yeah, I figured mentioning the difference between Andy and Matt for 3rd place would be something you guys would like (aside from Matt of course) see you guys soon maybe Daggerbowl if you guys can make a weekend out of it. Take it easy.

Great job Glenn and Adam, another smoothly run tournament. And thanks to all my opponents for some up and down games. Thanks Laurent for kicking my ass and bringing me back down to reality. Won't make that mistake twice.

Hope to see everyone at the Dagger Bowl. If not, see you at the CO hopefully.

I hope you learned your lesson, Dags, especially after you raged on me at the DeathBowl for not being on the last table . . . serves you right for trying to play beyond your station in life. Hopefully we can let the past transgressions pass and face each other on the last table in the future ;-D

Thanks to everyone for a fun tourney this past weekend. Special thanks to Glenn for putting us up once again, and letting us watch the entire LotR triology in HD on Friday night (total Nerd/Geek moment, but at least I am man enough to admit it Razz ).

Thanks to Adam for being the TO and running a smooth event. And a big shout out to the timers that kept everyone on time so I could get home before 10pm, they made being at work on Monday so much easier.

Don't worry, I will be down there sooner than later. Atleast I waited til the last game to climb to table #1, you left us after the second game at Deathbowl. For shame....

Thanks Dwarfrunner had an awesome time at the tourney. Had some ups and downs of my own to speak of Razz but Dark Elves are fun to play regardless of the result. Playing and running things is definitely a little "different" not bad at all just more to think of including playing...got lots of sleep Sunday though Very Happy

Nothing geeky about LotR trilogy...but all 3 on a Fri night...ok maybe Wink

Thanks for your help with the website and with me getting all of my computer stuff sorted out, much appreciated. Timers are always a good thing, even if it is just to keep people conscious of there turn. They don't just sit and look at there figs for 5 minutes before starting to move them. Shocked I'll admit I've even done it a few times...not quite 5 min but at least a couple.

Did you watch "the trilogy" Wink extended editions? no wonder Glenn looked tired when I dropped by!

Great to see you all out. I hope that I might be missing less tournies in the future..........

eitherway the folks interested in the WC in Amsterdam in Nov the next two weeks are decision time boys, PM me or email nafcanada@gmail.com

No probs Whilky, glad you had a good time man. Figured the .16 will be something you could harass Matt about for some time to come Razz

All the results have been input and finalized just to let you all know. All we need now is the proverbial "BUTTON" to be pushed and the rankings will take effect. Any questions or concerns let me know, but it should be accurate as I double checked everything before finalizing. Take it easy all, hope to see some of you in a few weeks at Daggerbowl.
