Post subject: Canadian Open 2012 - Toronto - March 10th/11th
Dear All,

It is my great pleasure to announce that the Canadian Open 2012 will be held at Duelling Ground (toronto), the 10th/11th of March.

The participation fees are 15$ for NAF, 20$ for non-NAF players. That will cover the trophies and some surprises.

*Special Old Farts Option*
You can attend only for the saturday. There will be a small trophy on the saturday, most of the prizes will be for the combined rankings of Saturday / Sunday.
The subscription will still be 15$.

Schedule:
Saturday: 3 games, 11 am to 7 pm, with a lunch break after the first game.
=> to save some time, we will meet up at 10 am in Dufferin Mall Food Court to do the registration and game announcements.
Sunday: 2 games, starting at 11 am. Get a solid breakfast, no lunch break!

The rule book is available here:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/20577437/CO_rulebook_2012.pdf

In short:
1,100,000 to build your team, access to inducements (but not the cards or the starplayers), bribes for gobs = 50,000, HMC for Halflings = 100,000.
Then, you'll get a skill pack.

For any infos, you can PM me or Stimme, or email us bbcanadianopen@gmail.com, or call us, or come to talk to us...

Some rumor said that some bloodbowl legends might show up, such as Nuffle's son: Mr Watts himself!

It's going to be great!

As a goodie, Lizardcore (if he plays) and me will play Tier3 teams, allowing everybody sweet revenge who suffered a defeat from one of us last season.

Hosting possibilities are also plenty, don't worry about that.

Hey Laurent,

Just read over the rules package and have a couple of questions:
1) Where are we meeting on the Saturday morning? That part got caught off (or was never put in?)
2) Are you really going to allow Tom to play? I thought we were going to try to make this a pure Canadian Open, and not let any Americans taint it! Twisted Evil

@Spazz: Since Duelling Grounds opens only at 11AM, we will keep up the tradition of meeting in a mall before the the first match. This time it will be at 10AM (9:30AM for you) at the Dufferin mall, just around the corner. We will specify the exact location soon.

@Tom: Just a warning: there is a Catholic sunday school only five blocks away, so you might have to lower your voice a bit while playing.

Taxal, you did meet Laurent at Q'ermitt in '08 but you also met with the floor that year so your memory of it may be a little fuzzy Wink I have to admit though, that tournament was the worst toxic experience in bloodbowl history that I recall Confused Hell even the World Cup with 500+ running around it never got even close (of course that wasn't held in a basement either)

Hey Lizardcore/Stimme,

Glenn wanted me to let you guys know that he really appreciated the invite but unfortunately he has to back out of next weeks tourney. He has too many things going on to miss a weekend of work this month. We may be able to recruit Stephan into coming on a positive note though! See you guys in a week!

Final week (no panic yet):

- The Ottawa car is going to Tristan's
- Peter M is going to Alex's, and will pick me up the saturday morning

There is 7 spots still available for last minute show up (ben, eric, rod, stephan, leathan... or whoever else)

The rules have been re-polished last week end, no major changes.

see you in 5 days !

My rats are 2 wins 1 loss after 3 games. 5th place after day one out of 16 or so players. I will say I'm tired of playing Norse Laughing

Game 1 lost 2-1 to Norse (cas lost 4-3)
Game 2 won 2-1 to Norse (cas lost 6-1)
Game 3 won 3-0 to Norse (cas won 2-1)

The good news there are no more Norse teams left.

Game 4 Sunday vs Vampires.

Consider this, Rod: You have achieved something few have done or will do. Here is what I mean:

In a 5 round tourney (Day 1 being 3 rounds) having 16 participants (15 opponents and 1 you) with one specific race 'X' (i.e. Norse) being represented by 3 coaches. Here are the various odds:

The conclusion:

very odd racial matchups for my rats to say the least, lol

Great tournament !

Thanks to Alex for his help, to Peter_Meers for driving us around, to everybody that showed up (especially from far - the Ottawa crew), to Goblin Forge and Duelling Grounds for their sponsorship, thanks to Tristan for having us saturday night, and Eric for his inspiring presence !

The Beverage sale helped balancing the tournament, so thanks to the pop drinker !

Any feedback appreciated (trophies, goodies, venue, price, etc...)

I forgot, thanks to Adam for giving some substance to the Premature award Very Happy

And congrats to Alex second place with Vampires Very Happy

Here is a recap of his path:
Game 1: he's loosing against Craig (Khemris).
Game 2: Rebound game against Tristan (Tristan is also my only victory with my Ogres Very Happy)
Game 3: Vampire Duel vs Peter_Meers.
Game 4: An hazardous roster played by Rod (Skaven) together with pouring rain allows him to win.
Game 5 (table 1): His Halfling master chef stole ALL adam's rerolls for the entire game Very Happy

For the record, Adam had the Premature award: He was first after the saturday 3 games. But because of Alex, he finished 4th Very Happy

PS: results uploaded, just waiting for the magic button.

It was a really smooth tourney. Maybe it is becaus eI am getting old and do not like staying uyp so late, but have to say that I really do like the five game format as it allows us more time to do our socializing on Saturday night (although I did go out with the GF).

Really surprised to have done so well with the Khemri as I did. If I had won my last game I would have come second place! Sad But I take comfort in the knowledge that the only guy who beat me was the guy who won the whole tourney! I was also surprised to see what a strong Opponent score I had! Go me!

Hope to see you all out at the Q'ermitt!

Because if you; re talking about the other button, it has already been pushed Wink

Now you can play for real, so maybe you will have more wins that loss overall !

I received one third of all touchdowns against me and two thirds of all casualties against me in that first match on Saturday morning against your Khemri. You just had to go on like that!

Thank you to Laurent and Alex for hosting a very fun event as always! Had a great time playing all my opponents, thought I had the tournament in the bag playing Vampires in the last round after winning a few very tough matches against quality opponents (ie my opponents score of 50!! in rankings) Guess that just adds to the Premature award I won though!! Razz

Thank you to Tristan for hosting us all at your place for the weekend, greatly appreciated.

Also want to clarify that I did not intentionally throw my dice tray in the last round after rolling double skulls in 4 of my first 5 turns with no rerolls due to a certain Master Chef!! Mr. Green I simply stood up to vent my frustration with my dice and my hand accidentally knocked it off the table. Sorry if it offended anyone as that was not my intention, I would never do something like that. I may scream, yell, bi**h and moan about dice but that goes over the edge. Hope that is not what it appeared to be. (Especially to Alex)

Take it easy all and hope to see you at a Tourney soon, thanks again.

Adam
