Pity you didn't get a draw last weekend
Still as confident. 2 Runners, A Blitzer and a Troll Slayer all in the casualty box against a team of bloody women.

Game 2 against Chris, he should win 2-1. Turn 16 i throw a gobelin, no RR. 2-2!
Game 5 against The Squig FC, he wins 1-0, turn 16....i throw a gob. 1-1 !!!

Well the usual English representatives for trips abroad are busy with this thing called life that gets in the way of having a good time. So until Febuary I wish you all a lot of fun and Bon Chance (?). Catch you all in the new year in Amsterdam. Boy is that gonna be one hell of a seasons opener!

Post subject: Great Tourney
Well I would like to add my thanks to the guys (and girl) I played. First tourney (been playing but a few months) and as I thought I would, loved it.
Indigo.. great opener, good game, I feel a rematch coming for sure. I can see this ones gonna roll and roll...it's 1-0 to u for sure, but my time will come (oh, and Solano's stormed out! flippen eck!) But very pleased u did so well overall, well done mate, I reckon your pretty happy with that weekend?
Steve : Any Halfing player gotta have a sense of humour and he didn't let me down. Great attitude Sir. But my first win
Zeboub. No one warned me. What a game, still I have learnt you cant expect to win when a saurus dodges out, picks up ball and long bombs to another saurus. (if only he could catch )
Oh, but what a game...and my ears still hurt from that whistle..
Sunday. Blurred vision. hmmm, dodgy pub in Reading...
Ben: dont recall alot, lost, still hazy...
Matt Robson: Great game, another great fella to play. Lost to his Orks but didnt care, we were now on the bottom table and being a little silly with our plays. But like Dave (indigo), Steve and Zeboub, Matt was great fun to play against.
Emma: Mrs VB was probably my best game in terms of how I played but I didnt 'alf roll some dice. I was feelin a bit guilty when I smacked down DE's like anything. 3 blitzers in the dead or KO bin in 3 turns, Emma didnt have much chance after that, but again a great sport, faultless attitude I have to say.
Roll on the next one. Amsterdam I think?

Hi, first post!
I was at the spikey but wasn't a NAF member so no points for me! (Only joined today) thought I did ok and I'm actually in one of the pictures in the previous post (standing looking gormless in a green fleece)
Is there a published game by game result list? I did ok considering it was my first time playing for 5+ years, but can't remember any of my results.
Would be interesting to see how my rating would have changed had I been a NAF member too.
I'm trying to get my mits on a BB XLIII ticket so that will hopefully be my first official tournament and we shall see if I cut it a coach or if they are mopping up my blood at the end of the weekend (metaphorically speaking)
See you on the field

there aren't any game by game lists I'm aware of - check the tournaments page for spiky 03, there might be a "raw data" one there.

Rd 1. dwarfcoach 1:1 Ben Trayhorn
Rd. 3. Longfang 4:2 Ben Trayhorn
Rd 5. ratboy13 2:2 Ben Trayhorn
Finished 33rd of 52, right between dwarfcoach (32nd) and Thadrin (34th).

Done some detective work and based on my memory and the results I think I identified everyone I played (all NAF coaches).
Still not sure how the K Value thing works but I think I would have ended up dropping very slightly based on the current NAF ranking scores. After 6 matches my ranking would have been 147ish, so perhaps better I wasn't a member
I'll post who I think I played and see if anyone remembers differently
Aran Isom (Dwarf) Draw
Emma Merton (Dark Elf) Win
Del Hiscocks (Skaven) Loss
David Downes (Lizards) Win
Adam Mitchell (Skaven) Draw
Simon Ashe (Lizards) Loss PAUL MCGLEISH not Simon

looking at those results it looks like arkhandzar should have won
or was the last match a final, with the winner of that winning overall regardless of points?

jap, the last two matches of the final four were the semifinal and the final.
The first four coaches after four rounds are the ones that play for the final, and the other coaches continue normally.
Thus, the fourth must end up with two losses in the last two games. However, i like it that way. The one losing the final is indeed second place. Not like at the blood bowl, where the loser of the final was somewhere further down...
...especially since all games may end up with a draw except the final!!!

I prefer a system where you're ranked according to how well you did during the whole tourney, not just whether or not you made it to the final. That goes against the basic principle of a swiss style tournament.

I'd agree with that. IIRC Spikey has semi-finals. So if you aren't in the top four with 2 games to go, you can't win in.
PK&Qs is pure Swiss - so although the last game on table #1 will probably decide the winner there isn't anything that guarantees it.
With a the scoring system is quite feasible for someone lower down overtake them too (between 17 and 32 points for a win, the loser gets the winner's score - 32).
Indigo - Feb 20, 2004 - 09:11 AM

I basically agree! But the problem with a final (see the BB) is that there MUST be a winner, while all other games can end in a draw. Would be unfair as well if the loser lost in overtime and then drops down the rankings.

I have played both ways and would prefer pure swiss style.
Anyway, since the tournament rules vary so much and it is up to the organizer to decide on the details, I think IF an organizer decides to include a real "final" with the winner actually winning the cup by definition, the loser of the final should as well by definition come up second. No "but" this time, only an "if". I hope I made myself claer now.
