Xtreme and I have booked the Red Roof University South where most of us stayed last year since it worked so well in terms of location ... McDonalds on one side ... gaming down the street.

Just need John to remind me where to turn for parking

Most of the guys who rode to the Deathbowl with me have claimed they're planning on attending, so that's a good bunch of TBBFers. Heck, there's even a rumour we can get a good deal on renting a Hummer for the ride down - MUCH better than stuffing 5 guys into my Cavalier! Conspiracy? Yes. You see we once tried to have the convention on a game weekend... it was NOT pretty. The traffic alone dropped attendance by nearly half.

But on the flip side, this makes damn sure that Blood Bowl is the hottest game in town!!!

Hi guys,
first to post here after a great fun tournament. I want to thank Neo for a well organized tourney (I still like the award for most completions for a Dwarf team Wink )

Unexpectetly, I ended up 3rd! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy and for the 2nd tournament I played in, I think that is not bad (maybe the Ogre helped this time).

It was great meeting you guys in person so I can put a face behind all the Nicks.

Oh, I don't really want to put too much salt in the wound, but Germany-Canada-Germany-Canada in the first 4 places!!! Razz Laughing

See you guys next time and thanks for the Candy Tim...and congrats to the great victory.

Cool, I'm the 2nd post-tourney poster... Thanks to Neo for a great tourney, and an excellent game as well. Neo and I are now 1-1-1 lifetime in tournament play! Smile Just as in the Deathbowl in Montreal, there wasn't a bad sport in the group, which is very inspirational in continuing to attend as many tourneys as possible!!!

A very big congratulations to Tim and his Chaos Dwarfs, who frustrated all of his opponents with his Bull Centaurs... Laughing A well deserved win to a great coach! Toronto's own rookie to tournaments, Neil Uppal, managed 2nd by handing me my 2nd loss (my 1st loss was to Tim). He played very well for his first tourney, our game was one laugh after another!

I hope to manage an international trip sometime in the future, to have another shot at Tim, and perhaps a game against you too, Tojurub! Nottingham? Mannheim? And Ashley's was a world class pub, I've never seen so many taps, I swear, behind the bar there was only a couple of inches between each tap! Worship

Thank you all for the amazing company, and a very enjoyable event!

Cam.

Final Standings: (Help me out and fill in the rest, guys!)

1) Tim - Ger
2) Neil - Can
3) Torstein (Tojurub) - Ger
4) Cam (me!) - Can
5) Jim (Old Man Monkey) - USA
6) Ben - Can
7) Tie - Anthony - Can, Ian - Can

Well, a quick post of thanks to Neoliminal for putting together a fine tournament - the standard of play was very high. Congrats to Tim who took on all comers and emerged victorious. Well done!

And to Tor who turned my foolish hobbo 3rd row GFI failure into the game-winning TD on the last play - (crazy dwarven passing team !!! Very Happy )

Especially nice to see Tom (you mad painter you), Brian (whatever card you choose is OK with me), Ian (the Toronto wit) and everyone else from previous tourneys. Also pleased to meet new faces - Anthony, Matt, Neil - very good times all around.

(and Cam, I think you have Ben and I reversed but no matter - we tied in our game and had a great time, so no harm there... Wink )

Another superb weekend of Bloodbowl - I can't believe my seven months of tournament travel and play is nearly at an end.

Glad to see that everyone made it home safely - lots of good ideas for the growth and positive promotion of Blood Bowl - I suppose now it is time to turn dreams into plans.

Thanks again to all who were there (and Bea, our waitress at the Greek restaurant for putting up with all of us so nicely...)

Sigh, all well it was the first time I ever played against flings so I'll take it as a learning experience and look forward to crushing them into the turf next time Twisted Evil

Halflings at the Underworld:

Game 1: Played the team that took 2nd in the tournament. Opponent rolled knockdowns no matter what ... even on one dice hits. He broke armour every time he hit a Fling (missing only 5 times). He also played a stall game. Put a Wight with the ball one square away from the TD on turn 3 of both drives and then just beat me up from there. The Ogres couldn't break AV at all and the Flings were dying like flies. Despite all of this I scored with only 8 players to make the game 2 TD to 1 TD.

Game 2: Played Neo's Skaven. Neo played a good game, but all his players looked the same to me. This was my problem not his. As a result I thought I had a Fling on a break away score and left him wide open. John then blitzed with what I thought was a Storm Vermin and turned out to be a Gutter Runner who could reach the Fling that the SV would not have. This stopped my first drive and John scored from the ball turnover. John pulled off the Skaven super play to get his second TD ... pickup, handoff, pass, catch, dodge, dodge, dodge, dodge, GFI, GFI ... score ... grrrrrrrrrr ... but its what Skaven do. My 6 FF paid for itself with a Pitch Invasion that KO'd 4 of John's Skaven and I walked in an easy TD. Not enough turns left to tie it up. John won 2 to 1.

Game 3: Played Matt's Skaven. Matt tried twice to pull off the super Skaven play and failed from my defense. Threw in a Fling for a Short Pass for my first TD and the Ogres rained down terror from there basically. Flings win 3 to 0.

Game 4: Played CyberHare's (Brian's) Amazon. Now Brian and I were splitting a room ... so we were trash talking all night and morning about the upcoming game. CyberHare had a lot of Block/Dodge 'Zons at this point, but the Ogres were on. The dice were even but Brian had never played Flings before. He locked up my team and the Ogre pitched the 'Fling out for the first TD. Brian rolled a lot of 4s for AV. The Ogres racked up 3 CAS and the Flings racked up 2 more to bring in 5 total. Flings won 2 to 0.

Game 5: Was tied for 5th at this point. Drew a Dwarf team. A Dwarf team that passed ... EVERY DRIVE. ... and had 4 skills and an Ogres. This was my best half of the day to be honest. At the end of the 1st half, I had managed to stay out of the way, score a running TD, the Dwarves had 2 TD, and we both only had 1 CAS .... however, my Flings failed a 3+ roll to land and score the tie TD for the 1st half. 2nd Half the Dwarves and I fight to a stand still. I fumble a short range 3+ Throw TeamMate for the tie TD, recover the ball and then 2 turns later fail a 3+ Dodge with the Dodge skill which with 2 GFIs and a reroll to back them would have scored. Despite failing 10 of 16 Bonehead rolls in the 2nd half, I keep the Dwarves from scoring the entire half. Lose the game 2 to 1, but in my heart this was the game that proved to me that I might have actually learned some things about playing the Flings. Now to see how I do when the LRB 3.0 comes out.

I forgot about that ... yeah we ran a Dark Elf vs Fling PBeM game to practice for GenCon ... well ... given what I think will be the official teams for the next Underworld cup. I might need to try the Flings bigger brothers: either the Lizardmen or Goblins ... unless I can convince John to allow the experimental Take Root for next year ... Laughing

Great touranment John ... looking forward to next year already.

Would be nice to have them in before the next tournaments though ... Wink

Good idea. Just one more person to get his NAF membership and I can enter these results. I'm waiting on Matt Weaver, no relation to Cam. Once he gets an ID then I can enter the results.

Talking about Matt: Will he also receive points for the Chaos Cup 2003? He played there as well....there is even picture evidence that he did on the GW Events webpage (nice shot of the back of his head!!)

Hey, I'll be there - third time has to be the charm to finally kick some TBBF tail! If Neil's dice hadn't been so stuck on 10+, I'd feel a whole lot better. Wink

We've got 8 coaches registered already for the Three Kingdoms Challenge and it's exactly half and half - NAF to non-NAFcoaches! I think that most of them will be joining by the start of the tournament - the venue has given us a great discount just for NAF coaches. And wait til you see the trophies we've designed for the competition - I think they're certainly going to be special!

Anyway, I'm certainly planning on being there - with the WA changes, it may however be with another team . . . and maybe that's a good thing!

Have fun in the snow - I'm going to the pool!

Just noticing that it takes a very long time to enter results in general, that makes me think about a Six Sigma Black Belt project (Quality assurance and improvement program). Shocked

There must be a way to streamline the processes of entering new members and entering tournament data Question Idea Question

Let's run some control charts to analyze that Wink
AnthonyTBBF - Dec 09, 2003 - 10:28 PM

It's not the process, we're just having difficulty locating a member.
