Post subject: DEATHBOWL X - Ottawa, ON, Oct. 20-21, 2012
Deathbowl X is booked and the location is set! This will be the Year of the Original 6!! For the first time to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of Deathbowl, there will be 6 teams to choose from that will all have unique benefits to represent some stars coming out of retirement to make appearances!! Drumroll...the 6 races will be Human, Orc, Dwarf, Skaven, Dark Elf, and last but not least High Elf. Stay tuned as we finalize the rules for this upcoming year and I will post the benefits associated with each of the 6 races above. Finally after years in the making we will be unveilling our Brand Spanking NEW DEATHBOWL BOARDS!!! So excited to have them after all this time and well worth the wait I might add.
We will be returning to the Montgomery Legion for this year as it is simply more spacious and comfortable as much as the convenience of home is nice it can get a little cramped 
Any questions as always feel free to ask, take care all and hope to see many of you in the coming months.

Yeah, more space. Home comforts are great, but not when everyone keeps hitting their heads on the light fixtures. ;P
Now, I must wait for the rules to decide which race I will bring. Can Dwarves finally win at Deathbowl? Can Skaven survive at Deathbowl? Who knows....

Just an update for everyone, we have been working hard to get everything organized and sorted out well in advance of this year's tourney. Our first order of the New Boards has already arrived and we will be ordering a second shipment shortly. The dice are well underway and the rulebook has been updated to reflect this year's theme. There will also be a few other surprises in store for the tourney!
As many have asked I will quickly explain the rundown of this year's bonus for the "Original Six" theme: For each of the themed races you will have 3 options (of which you may choose one)
For Dwarves, Humans, High Elves: 1) A 50K Special Play or Magic Item card 2) A free team reroll 3) 5 "Doubles" skill improvements at a cost of 20k each (does not include attribute increases)
For Orc, Skaven, Dark Elves: 1) A 50K Dirty Trick or Misc. Mayhem card 2) a free team reroll 3) 5 "Doubles" skill improvements at a cost of 20k each (no attributes)
We have also made a change in the Team building phase as well. You will still have the 1 250 000 to build your team but no player may have more than 3 skill improvements total. You may have multiple players with 3 skills each but cannot exceed the maximum of 3 with any one player. They can be of any variety including attributes within the normal rules of the CRP. (ie. players that don't have access to mutations cannot take them as a skill)
A couple other minor tweaks, all have been highlighted in red within the rulebook for easy reference. As always any questions feel free. See you all soon, take care.

Stuck between bringing Skaven or Dwarf....like the idea of mutations at 20k, but also like agility at 20k for dwarves...........free re-roll is quite tempting too.

Some of the cards are pretty crazy too for 50k but it is random luck with those...mutations for Chaos Dwarves at 20K is pretty sick too!! I have sent off the rulebook to Mr Rubli to post on the website but if I know you and you want a copy sooner just send me a PM with your email and I can forward it directly to you. Pretty stoked and it is still 5 months away!

Sorry, runki has it right...I got excited with all of you talking of Skaven taking mutations and to think I created the rulebook Won't happen again lol, the basic premise behind that option of 5 Doubles skills for 20k is to give each of the Original Six the opportunity to alleviate there deficiencies somewhat, at the cost of a regular skill.
Every year we have given a 'themed' team a bonus worth approx 50k in value. All 3 options for all six races equate to 50k in total (with the exception being that rerolls for Orc and Skaven are 60k) That was about as even across the board that we could make it being fair and adding some diversity to the options available.

We did think of that CS, They will either be removed or amended to pertain to the ruleset with no kickoffs taking place. For instance an easy fix is one that states "to be played before or after the kickoff result has been decided" you can use it either before or after the scatter rolls are made to determine where the balls are placed. Some are a little more complicated and we will explain how they will be changed or removed. If a player is unable to utilize the card that is chosen that would defeat the purpose of the 'bonus'

Just under 2 months now for my fav of all tournaments in the year.
Since DB2 I have never placed within the top 5 except last years incredible tie for 2nd (finishing 4th with tie-breakers, ARGH!!!!). Maybe and its a big maybe, I will finish in the top 3 playing in my 9th DB tournament this year.
Not playing Dwarf anymore.....going with the speed of Skaven.

Looks like this might be the only weekend I can make until 2013. I've never done the death bowl thing before and if the London/K-W gang all drive up I'll be in for sure.
Not sure how High Elves made the cut into the original six...but that's not important now. I friggn' have no clue what team to go with. I loved wood elf at the lakeside this year (sometimes it's fun to score...and even win!) and feel liek sticking with them but I want in on the perks of picking a team from the six.
Some of those cards are pretty kick ass.

Most of the cards wording will simply be amended to fit the Deathbowl game. ie: if it states to use prior to kickoff result, it will be effective before the 4 teams roll to see who's turn it is first. Some also state things about when in the turn sequence to play them, most of which have to be played at the beginning of your turn. So the long and short answer is YES
I'll take a quick look through them again and make notes as to which will be amended and how and will let you all know shortly.

So here is the more complete answer to your question, only two cards will be withheld from all of them as they cannot really be modified to apply to Deathbowl. They are Badyear Git from the Misc Mayhem deck and Come to Papa from the Special Play deck. Other than those 2 the rest is all about the wording being slightly changed to be applicable to Deathbowl. Many are fine as is, it is only the ones that reference being involved with the kick-off that needed to be looked at. I have looked at them all and will explain to the coaches when they are drawn from the deck how they will need to be played.

Just an update for everyone coming that Glenn's place will not be an option for the Friday night. There are still a few options available and we can figure out who and where when you arrive. Bring air matresses and such with you and the rest we can handle. Not sure about Hickling and Daggers but I'm sure a few people can crash at different places. Big Thank You to everyone that made it out to our 10th Anniversary of Deathbowl this past weekend!! Hope everyone had as good a time playing as we had watching things unfold. Adding weather to the mix definitely made some things very interesting. Very happy to finally unleash the new Deathbowl boards at our tourney as well, the wait was well worth it. Congratulations to all the winners of both Trophies and Prizes throughout.
A big thank you to Patrick Laforge and his wife Stephanie Laplante for there donation of a fully painted Gaspez High Elf Team!! Greatly appreciated. I will post a run down of all the results and winners shortly. Also have some photo's to post from the tourney, all the results should be entered into NAF by the end of the week. Hope to make it out to Blingtoof in a few weeks to get some gaming in myself, good to see everyone as always. Had a great time and am looking forward to a great 2013 of Bloodbowl shortly.
For those that weren't there...Next year's Deathbowl XI will be The Year Of The............CHAOS DWARVES!!! (more info to follow as it becomes available)

Holy crap......tied for second last year(finished 4th with tie-breakers) to finishing 22nd this year. Man that is one hell of a nose dive........
Maybe should have listened to some people and not played Dwarves, but was still entertaining.
