Link to GLAM results
The Great Lakes Amorical (GLAM) Tournament Series is ready to enter its 4th year!
After three successful years being run by Stimme, I have taken over the reigns.
There will be some additional changes to the GLAM TS ruleset that will be in effect for the 2019 season (see below).
I will keep updating this post with the list of 2019 scheduled GLAM tournaments.
- Phoenix Bowl (Kitchener, Ontario) - Jan 5
- CCKO (Gatineau, Quebec) - Jan 19-20
- Canadian Open: Hoser Bowl (Toronto, Ontario) - Feb 23
- Canadian Open: 50 Mission Cup (Toronto, Ontario) - Feb 24
- Dagger Bowl (Gatineau, Quebec) - Mar 16
- Jack’s Bowl (Elmvale, Ontario) - Mar 30
- Super Star Smackdown (Toronto, Ontario) - Apr 6
- Dog Bowl (Kalamazoo, Michigan) - Apr 13
- Fruit Bowl (Niagara Falls, Ontario) - Apr 27-28
- MooseKnuckle (Garden City, MI) - May 4
- Brewhaus Bowl (Kitchener, Ontario) - May 25-26
- Oasis Bowl (Quebec City, Quebec) - Jun 8-9
- Royal City Gladiator Cup (Guelph, Ontario) - Jun 22
- The Ursa Major (Kitchener, Ontario) - Jul 20
- Border Princes (Bainsville, Ontario) - Jul 27-28
- Under Empire Cup (London, Ontario) - Aug 24
- Chaos Cup (Chicago, Illinois) - Sep 7-8
- La Coupe des 4 Nations (Montreal, Quebec) - Sep 7-8
- Crossroads Bowl (Horseheads, NY) - Sep 28-29
- Warpstone Cup (Niagara, Ontario) - Sep 28-29
- Underworld Cup (Franklin, Michigan) - Nov 2-3
- Spiked Shoe Cup (Kitchener, Ontario) - Nov 16
- Da Boyz Bash (Rochester, NY) - Nov 8
- Jingle Bowl (Kitchener, Ontario) - Dec 7
- Xmas Bowl (Quebec City, Quebec) - Dec 7-8
--------------------------------------------
Rankings will now be based on the Top 5 tournaments attended
- Playing in more tournaments will result in more opportunity to score higher point totals
- Minor adjustment to point counting to fix potential "gaps" between points
Achievements
- There will be additional achievements that you can earn by playing in GLAM tournaments.
- Awards will be given out based on the number of achievement points earned
Level 1 achievements will be worth 1 point.
Level 2 achievements will be worth 2 points.
Attendance
- Level 1: Attend 3 tournaments
- Level 2: Attend 6 tournaments
Stunty
- Level 1: Win a game as stunty
- Level 2: Play 3 tournaments as stunty
Casualties
- Level 1: Win most casualties in a tournament
- Level 2: Win most casualties in 3 tournaments
Touchdowns
- Level 1: Win most touchdowns at a tournament
- Level 2: Win most touchdowns in 3 tournaments
Undefeated!
- Level 1: Win or tie all your games at a tournament
- Level 2: Win all your games at a tournament
Travel
- Level 1: Play in tournaments in 4 different cities
- Level 2: Play in tournaments in 2 different countries
Diversity
- Level 1: Play in tournaments with at least 3 different races
- Level 2: Play in tournaments with at least 6 different races
Clarification
I just wanted to clarify that the achievement points/rankings do not affect the main rankings. They are a separate ranking which allows additional participants to earn rewards/prizes/glory.

Congrats and thanks to Stimme for all the hard work.
And thanks Sean for taking this on!
Interesting changes.
I think for the better.
5 events seems like a good cut off for most people too. Stops tournament spammers like Grant winning every time And might encourage a few more people to add another tournament to their years plans.
I have a question about the Travel award.
What counts as a different City? I mean, is the GTA 1 city? Is Ottawa one City and Gatineau another? The Border Princes is held by a river, not in a city at all.... where would the lines be drawn?
(I may be over thinking this...)
Also, for GLAM purposes, the two countries is simply USA and Canada right? |

They changed the BEAST rules last year to spite me too, Grant! I was undaunted.
(These do look like changes for the better, much like the aforementioned changes to BEAST.) |

We will define different Cities as "regions". So, Ottawa/Gatineau would be the same. GTA would be the same. Kitchener/Waterloo/Guelph would be the same, etc.
The intention is to encourage travel, so cities which are 20 minutes apart and happen to have a larger density of tournaments could result in skewed results.
These will be evaluated on as-needed basis.
Notorious_jtb wrote: Also, for GLAM purposes, the two countries is simply USA and Canada right?
Yes, that is correct.

There is no set rule. You have the option of selecting which tournament series you'd like to participate in. Here are some criteria which may influence your choice one way or the other:
- Which TS would your participants likely participate in more?
- Which TS would likely result in the most attendees?
- How far would the travel be from various TS hot spots?
Basically, I would recommend trying to maximize your participants while also selecting the TS which your local participants are most likely to participate in. The TS are always more fun the more TS tournaments you can attend!
Clarification
I just wanted to clarify that the achievement points/rankings do not affect the main rankings. They are a separate ranking which allows additional participants to earn rewards/prizes/glory. |

Quote: The GLAM tournament series runs from January 1st to December 31st and aims to promote travel and greater participation in Blood Bowl events in the Great Lakes area. It is sanctioned and sponsored by the NAF and includes Canadian and US-American tournaments in the states of Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana and the provinces of Ontario and Quebec.
I mean, maybe we could make an exception or something, but Open Series (like GLAM) in particular work by stating which area they cover and then including everything within that area. |

Hi all.
Sean told me his Serie run on Quebec/Ontario (Canada) and Northern Michigan/ North Western NY (USA).
He also told me that they may overlapp with another serie in the NY state. At that time, i didnt see this as a problem, because there are no rules against it. I thoguht this was pretty common in large countries (and then every TO gets to choose to which serie he applies).
I will consult with Torsten and get back to you. Thanks. |

Well, the Open Series description says they must have a clearly defined geographic area, but I suppose it leaves some room for argument on exactly how clear that needs to be. We've never split a state before, but I suppose it's a possibility.
The NYC organizer think BEAST is a more sensible fit for them, so I'm not too worried about it being a progressive issue in which we're steadily ceding territory. If Gary and Sean are both pretty sure this is what they want to do, I'm cool with drawing a line somewhere in NY. Let me know! |
