The following statement was released by the NAF earlier this week - it is available elsewhere on this forum but I thought it may be useful in this location:
With regret, the NAF must announce the suspension of its Tournament Series program for 2020.
*This is only a suspension of tournament SERIES, not individual tournaments. A series = a NAF sanctioned program in which groups of tournaments have cumulative scoring and there is a small prize at the end for the victor*
Each series has already seen its schedule disrupted by the current health crisis, and attempts to engage with series organizers suggest that there is no consensus on resumption of play. By suspending the program, the NAF hopes to relieve organizers of one consideration when reassembling their regional tournament schedules; no one need feel any pressure to preserve an event just because it is key to their local series.
For series that already had a substantial number of events played, no doubt creating emotional investment in coaches who had performed well in those, our suggestion would be to retain those scores and roll them in with the results of 2021. This is at the discretion of each series' organizer(s), and discarding a few results is also acceptable given the circumstances.
There had already been plans to review the program this year, to include reassessment of goals and incentives, so perhaps this will provide an opportunity to do so with a more relaxed schedule.
Fell free to include any thoughts in the comments below, or send me a PM if you prefer, I will update further later in the year.
Stay safe,
D |

In regards to this, what aspects are up for review? |

Sorry for the late reply, Lair, but the entirety of the program is up for review. This was always the plan, to take the first 5 years and see how it's working out. The virus just changed the process slightly.
So...the prize, the rules, the goals are all up for reconsideration. Maybe everyone is cool with how things are going, but if there are big ideas now is the time to share them.
Thanks for the interest! |

Hi Nate,
As you can imagine with just starting our newest tournament series, we are very keen on keeping this program going. This has been a fantastic rallying point for coaches wanting to expand their tournament window of activity.
Should a sub committee form for discussion, I would be happy to lend a hand. |

GLAM has just done a re write of the point gaining structure. Sean has also added in an interesting achievements tracking tally too. |
