Background

The Yorkshire Tournament Series (YTS) is a new tournament series covering the counties of North, South and West Yorkshire. In 2025 East Yorkshire is covered by the East Yorkshire Tournament series.
A tournament series is a competition where coaches compete to achieve the best score over a number of different tournaments.

The YTS is an open event. We have identified some initial events to fill out the calendar but we are seeking additional events to provide a good geographical and calendar spread across the counties that make up the area.
If you are a Tournament Organiser who would like their tournament to be included within the YTS please contact tournament series organiser (TSO). Any events accepted into the YTS will be approved on a first come first served basis, based on the date of NAF approval. Any event included in the YTS must :

• Be held within the counties of North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire or West Yorkshire

• 11s tournaments only. Specialist 11s tournaments will be assessed for inclusion based on their compatibility with the series requirements. No other variants will be included. Team tournaments will not be included.

• Coach pairings in the tournament should be on a Swiss style basis following the first round i.e coaches are paired against coaches on similar results.

• Game results (win/loss/draw) must determine the tournament winner and other statistics (e.g touchdowns, casualties, clean sheets, strength of schedule) only differentiate placings when coaches are on the same results/points from game results.

• Must be NAF approved at time of inclusion

• Must inform the TSO (Littleleadperson) of their desire to be included in the series at least 2 months before the event

• No new events will be accepted in the 2 months before the series end date (i.e. after 31st October 2025)

• The TO must commit to providing results to the TSO within two weeks of the event finishing.

The YTS is run over the 2025 calendar year with awards to be handed out at the earliest possible mutual convenience of the winners and the TSO in early 2026.

The YTS Tournament series organiser is Littleleadperson who is best contacted by email at indieash254@googlemail.com or on Discord - Littleleadperson_LLP (UTC+0).

The Events

The YTS will consist of a minimum of five events a year (although we are expecting more than 8 to be included in the final series). To be included in the rankings for the YTS a coach must compete in a minimum of three events.

Only a coach's top 3 scores will count towards a coach's final standings no matter how many events they attend. For the stunty cup you must compete in at least two events using a stunty team and your top two scores will count.

Current tournaments in the series:

11 January - Drip Bowl, TO Nodgefodgekins
02 February - Tavern Brawl 3, TO Thulean
22 March - Wibblebowl 2025, TO Spleggy
11 October - Fail Bowl 2 : Fail Harder, TO Chilli
29 - 30 November - UK Masters, TO Pipey

Coach Requirements, Prizes and Scoring

To be included within the YTS you must be a NAF member regardless of any tournament requirements.

Prizes are provided by NAF and there will be a prize for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Stunty Cup.

Coaches receive the following points based on their ranking:

+10 to +1 points for top 10 placement, on a declining scale. In other words, a 1st place finish is worth 10 points, a 2nd place finish is worth 9 points and so on, down to a 10th place finish being worth 1 point.

Should there be fewer than 10 coaches (it happens!), the maximum score is equal to the total number of participants, declining as usual. That means winning a tournament with 6 participants results in 6 points for 1st place, 5 points for 2nd place, and so on.

+1 point per full 10 places below them in the standings capped at a maximum of 5. Examples: A coach finishing 1st in a 32-coach tournament receives a bonus of +3 because there are 30+ coaches below. Finishing 13th in the very same tournament gives 1 bonus point, as there are 19 coaches below. A coach finishing first in a 10-coach tournament receives no bonus as there are only 9 coaches below.

+1 point per day of the tournament. Given to all participants.

+2 points for each win and 1 point for each draw

Coaches receive 0.1 points for each tournament they participate in. This score is taken in whole and is not reduced to "best 3" as with other scores. So, someone who participated in 9 tournaments might have a total score of 30.9.

Tiebreakers
Total number of Series Tournament Champion wins (1st place finishes)
