Hi all!
GW folks have asked me to post a message that asks...
What did you like about the 2003 Chaos Cup Tournament in Chicago?
What did you not like?
Would you like to see anything changed?
Would you like to see anything added to next year's event?
Let's hear from you!

Things to change:
1) At least 4 weeks between it and the GenCon Bowl
2) The Star Player system used at the GenCon Bowl and being considered for next year's Blood Bowl. 9 of the top 10 teams having Star players shows that Stars mattered more than skills with 1 exception.
3) Painting points should not be added in until after the final game (ie they should NOT influence match ups during the tournament).
Those were the big 3 that I know of.

1) The existence of a Major US BB Tourney
2) Not being able to go, but I intend to next year and am in the NO STAR PLAYERS or INCREASE THEIR COSTS SIGNIFICANTLY camp
3) See #2, and have it in Boston next year
4) My attendance and imminent victory
I'm sorry I missed it, it sounds like it was an excellent event! |

Well, I didn't like having 3 Orc opponents in three games , and the Chicago traffic which caused my friend and I to be 30 minutes late.
Since they are moving the Chaos Cup to early September next year, I don't have to suggest spacing GenCon and the Chaos Cup out.
I thought the Star Players were too easy of a choice as well. Either say they can't use rerolls or increase their cost slighty. Allowing only one Star Player is a good idea, just need to add one drawback to them.
Tie games should count for mre points than a close loss. Maybe up the wins to 5 points, ties to 3 points and leave the close losses at 2.
I liked the trophies at GenCon for best painted, sportman, etc. If I remembered right, only the Chaos Cup Champion got something besides just a piece of paper.
And I still want to see the final standings in the Chaos Cup, which Tim and the gang are working on posting to the internet.
That's about all I can think of for now.

I meant 3 Orc opponents in 5 games. |

I just saw a sneak peek of the Spike! trophy up for grabs at the tournament here in Canada next year. All I gotta say is HOLY MOLY, by far the best BB trophy out there!! |

I didn't attend, but I'll pitch my two cents:
1. Star Players need revision.
2. Painting scores shouldn't help determine matchups.
3. More coaches require more trophies.
Cheers!

I would like to see someway to gain mutations, traits, and stats.
You could even keep the same 1 skill/game system and do it. Just make a normal skill roll for the player you pick to receive a skill. |

Here's my two cents.
I really benefited points wise from the 'loss by less than 2 = a draw', BUT I don't think that is a fair system. A draw should definately count for more than a loss of any kind.
If GW wants Blood Bowl to get more exposure don't hide us at the farthest possible end of the hall from the rest of Games Day. Nobody knew there was anything going on except the people who were dedicated enough to play. I believe the rumor is that the Chaos Cup won't be at Games Day next year. Perhaps a smaller tournament could take its place at Games Day to help spread the word.
Overall Tim, Sean and all the other GW folks who helped out did a great job! Thanks for everything! I can't wait for next year. |

There is no date yet, but it will be next year sometime (I think in the fall).
Snots: Sorry I don't have a pic, but it pretty much looks exactly like the miniature, just bigger and shinier |

I'm surprised that this part of the flawed Resurrection scoring system survived this long.

OK - my two pence worth:
Pre Tournament: there was limited use of the forums - perhaps use the forums to 'hype' the tournament (imagine the interest that would have developed had a picture of the Chaos Cup been posted on TBB or NAF as soon as it was available)
Make complete rule set both VIEWABLE and DOWNLOADABLE.
The schedule should have been reevaluated once the first day site change had been made - the first day probably could have begun earlier.
Much has already been said re: Star Player valuation - the Chaos Cup limit of one was good, the GenCon valuation was better IMO.
There are several other point to be made in private, but all in all I think the event was great and will be even better at the Chicago Bunker next year.
