Just remembered something and if I'm lucky I'll get it down before the memory vanishes........
Was in GW Guildford a week or two ago, poking around for the Bloodbowl mag and the shop staff said (I know they're not the best of people to believe but...) that they won't be recieving future issues and the only way to get it will be to subscribe
They could be telling the truth or they could be giving me a load of chuff. Either way I suppose it's time I got round to subscribing. |

That's not the first time I've heard this. Subsriptions don't work too well outside of England, so I wonder how the international audience will be getting it? |

Getting it? Ha! Give you an example of how good it works. Asking for my subscription issue I got this mail:
MOTroll1 wrote: issue 6 was sent out on the 3rd of this month, so you should receive this within the week.
Two weeks later I mailed again bc I received nothing. Then I got this mail:
MOTroll2 wrote: Sorry, the email to you should have said that we will be sending the magazine out on the 23rd of February so it should be with you shortly.
Yeah, sure. I'm curious about their next lame excuse (maybe, oh sorry we meant 23rd Feb of 2004 of course) |

They send a mag to the continent once a year now?? That's an improvement!
Still waiting though....

Also still waiting.
Pissed off with GWMO in extremis.
That said, having seen the lame excuse for Ogre rules is it worth it? |

The truth is pretty similar - official, all fanatic publications are becoming splash releases, i.e. each store will receive about 3 copies. They will then only make enough for subscription customers...
So it is not quite, but almost as bad as you could imagine...
**sorry, meant to say I have had this confirmed from 2 generally reliable sources at GW |

Well, they are *trial* rules, so play with them and send feedback. If no-one sends anything in they'll be assumed to be okay and then the BBRC will have to sort it out. |

This has all been gone through the brief moments that TBB has been up. Those of us who've got in have been bashing out a new, improved, more flavourful, second ed. inspired Ogre team. Much better than the "oh crap got the minis but no rules, ah I'll knock something out in five minutes flat" rules in the mag. Milo of the BBRC has been in on the brainstorming.
testing will be happening soon. |

After BBMag 3 was published, I was still considering of subscribing, but with the quality of the articles published thereafter, I really can't see why I should. The improved rules will be made in TBB anyhow and will hopefully see the light of day in a later magazine. I just hope that the Fanatic has the guts of republishing an article because the rules in the previous one were overpowered. |

...and the decent rules will appear in the annuals eventually anyway.
Lets just hope that certain people don't thin they know better than everyone else in the BB community cos they work for Fanatic and go ahead and print the stuff they wrote rather than the superior stuff the Brown brothers are producing (want the second half of "All at sea"!) |

Well I have to say that my copy of #6 landed on the front door step over a week ago but I think this has something to do with the fact that I repeatedly repeatedly repeatedly repeatedly (got the point?) kept getting in touch with the same Troll after they mucked me around with delivery and overcharging of #4.
They even offered me two free issues at the end of my subscription (they better not forget that one ) |

I can't say I like the "all at sea" rules - for me, I only like things that are in the context of the original game, and expand the existing concept rather than fundamentally alter it.
it's an interesting read, but I'd never actually bother playing a game of it. I'm more interested in things like the expanded rules for referees, and I was working on some on-pitch ref rules before they released theirs! After all, we have the models, why not use 'em!
Things like the article about Galaks collection, making a custom playing board etc. are also what I get most out of, rather than exotic changes to what IMO is a pretty fun game as it is!
Still, the more material produced for it the better I guess. |
