The Final standings are not important...

No no no, we need not look at the final standings...

Lets not dwell on things of the past, lets look to the future shall we? Yes, yes the future is very good.

I forgot lastnight in the midst of all my rants, to thank Ian Dundass, Old Man Monkey, Mr. Watts, all my competitors for putting on a great show. I really enjoyed myself. Despite having a record of 0W-4L-1T. Great job everyone. Oh & Bryan "40K Vet" Carlaw, Everyone did not beat me, I did tie the one chap from Indiana (or somewhere in the USA) His team was "The Wheelin & Dealling "My name is too long for anyone to rember" Miners" or something like that Laughing . We had a great game I was down 2-0 at half time to only tie it up 2-2. Also I did win the ever so important "BAG OF WHEAT" award twice. So I wasn't totally beat. (Am I at all succeeding in defending what little respect any of you have left for my team?)

Congrats Bud (Grrrr. you still owe me a tourney rematch) Also congrats to Ian Dundas for a long peacefull retirement from the NAF as Canadian Tourney Organiser. Also congrats to Ben for a long enjoyable workload with the NAF as Canadian Tourney Organiser.

Did I forget anyone?.....

Well if if I did, you know why...

Yes again it all comes back to Warpstone Withdrawl. Confused

In Close great job to you all & hope to see you all again very soon.

Don't quote me on this, but I do believe the total was 28 Teams. Oh & I also think all 28 were NAF members.

I want to congratulate Bud on a well played event. He kicked major butt.

After a blazing start on the first day, I needed only one win on the second to day to secure an overall win. Rolling Eyes

My first opponent was Bud. My Orcs seemed well stacked against his Wood Elves. Unfortunately while I was breaking armour, I never caused a casualty. I started out well, scoring the first TD after recovering from a failed GFI in the endzone.

I felt I had a shot, even without causing injuries, but a quick score equalized. The second half required me to advance slowly and carefully to avoid the dancing elven attack on my ball carrier. With my cage wearing thin I was in scoring range and decided I needed to take the risk. Driving foward with my blitzer I just needed a GFI into the endzone and failed again. (Was that an endzone line or a trip wire?)

I felt content that I would get a tie, with the ball landing in his endzone and his outlet catcher one square too far from my endzone. But Bud pulled out an end to end TD, making the pick up, handoff, pass and then blocking my own player to push his the extra space required to score for the 2 GFI TD. Well done and he eeks out the victory (which put him in first place.)

Neo played an amazing game, I just seemed to have that trip wire handy near the goal line or else it could have all gone wrong. That was the only game I didn't suffer a casualty, thanks Neo Razz

Well I gotta admit, that play took a couple specific rolls which I made, thankfully.

oh ya, and thanks for the congrats guys!

Before I pass along the final points tally from last weekend???s Canadian Open, I have to ???fess up to an error. The Points Totals that I used when announcing the winners DID NOT take into account the points from Painting and Sportsmanship.

This does not affect Bud???s win, nor does it make any change to the announced Top Four. However, it does rearrange the names originally announced for 5th, 6th and 7th. As you???ll see in the results, these positions now belong to Cam Weaver, Joseph Michaud, and Dave Sutton, respectively. Fortunately, all three got picks at the prize table anyway, so I don???t think it should cause too much disgruntlement.

The error also affected a few positions below the top seven, but since only the Top 7 were announced for prize purposes, I don???t think this should cause a problem, either.

Regardless, I apologize to those affected by my error.

These results will be entered into the NAF database later this week.

I also wanted to mention how pleased I was with the turnout this year! When I set things up with the Pandemonium Convention, I asked the organizers to give us room for 16 coaches, since we had 12 there last year. On the day of the event, 28 coaches showed up and we had to beat up some AD&D miniatures guys for extra playing space.

OK, there were no actual beatings.

In any case, the convention organizers was very impressed with us and we're going to get a lot more priority in their arrangements next year.

Special thanks to all those who came from out of town, helping the tournament to live up to the name Canadian Open. We had 5 coaches from Montreal, 11 from Toronto, 4 from Niagara Falls, 1 from Esquimalt, BC, 1 from Ann Arbor, Michigan, 4 from Fort Wayne, Indiana (did I get the name right?), 1 from Indianapolis, Indiana, and 1 from Tampa Bay, Florida.

Also, I should add congratulations to Neil Uppal for taking the Best Painted Award, and also to Kolja Eppert and Bryan Carlaw for Best Painted nominations.

Although I didn't award it formally, I think I should also mention Jeff Birchenough for the Most Hated By Nuffle award. There was just no call for the abuse Nuffle heaped upon those poor benighted Wood Elves! Wink

And finally, thanks to NAF for my Retirement Steak on Saturday night! Yum! Can I retire again soon? Very Happy

It was a blast, DW!!! And yes, the Cuttlefish are CWs... Although Kevin is pondering their retirement from tourney play... Which reminds me, Bud mentioned the same thing with his Woodies! Maybe now I'll have a chance with both those teams gone!!!

Does this mean I'm going to have to dust off the Orcs to hang onto my #1 spot?
