Can players who have chainsaws with them on the pitch use the kick skill at the start of the drive. I ruled no but what do you think? |

I don't see why not. |

There is no rule against players with Secret Weapons using skills. However, be aware that what you are asking is impossible with the current rules ... so you are already playing in a league that house ruled how Secret Weapons work.
So if you want to rule they cannot use Kick ... that is just a modification of a House Rule your league as already done.

But why would you want to rule against it anyway? Players don't hold chainsaws with their feet, and you don't use your hands when doing an opening kickoff anyway. |

I think what Galak is saying is that None of the current Chainsaw wielding StarPlayers have Kick. Since StarPlayers can not gain SPPs or further improve...they would be unable to gain the Kick skill...thus being unable to use it.
However, if your league has a house rule that would allow one of these star players gain extra skills, such as kick...the why wouldn't they now be able to use it?
If the context of your league includes home-grown House Rules, how can anyone here make a ruling on what is and is not against the rules?
Again...I'm not inside the Giant's head, but that was how I interpreted his post.

Rob that was pretty much it.
Its difficult to give an "official" ruling on a House rule which this clearly is.
So you get one of two possible answers:
1) In the experimental Secret Weapon rules while they lasted ... a player with a Chainsaw could get Kick and use it ... so from the brief amount of time that saw the light of day ... I agree with Zombie. A player with a Chainsaw can use Kick.
2) The league has house ruled in some Secret Weapon rules which I don't know how they read since SW's currently cannot get skills in either the LRB 3.0 or the Vault 1.5.1 rules. If you want to add to the house rules that the chainsaw throws the player too much off balance to be able to use a skill like Kick. Well that's just a house rule modification ... I make those all the time in my league.
So yeah Rob ... that's what I was trying to say. I'm not sure how to "rule" on something that is purely a house ruled part of the game.

It doesn't, but secret weapons are only available on star players, and star players cannot earn skills. |

Not according to the Compendium (2004)...
Course, those I suppose are not official rules... Funny how they get published anyway. |

They are not official rules, not even by a long shot. |

I would say by a long shot, considering they were published by the game designers, right?
While I agree, they are add ons to the LRB, I don't think they are so far out of left field as some of the things I've seen in Online Leagues. |

Just because it gets published it doesn't mean it is even going to be considered to be offical. For a look at how Secret weapons will probably end up working check out the vault version. |

Those things have not even been read by Jervis or any BBRC member before being published. Over 90% of the time, they're grossely unbalanced. Really, you can't get much more unofficial than that. |
