Well, home again in the land of sunshine or hurricanes...
Will post more tomorrow - just wanted to tell everyone, new friends and old, that the tourney was one of the most satisfying of the year. Great that McSnaga and Grum made it over, leaving with No. American points in tow... great that the all-TBBF final reaffirmed the excellence of their league and organization... great that GW-Canada pointed the way for the other national divisions to follow, with a fun atmosphere and a good time for the coaches...
Well done Anthony and Ian!!! Congratulations to our well-deserving champion, Ben - showed everyone that dancing skaven are here to stay...
Hope and trust that everyone has arrived home safely and fired up for some more BB soon, with the Deathbowl, Underworld, and Baltimore GT on the way...

Rob and I got home safely yesterday too.
This was one of my favorite tournaments so far. I had 4 great games (OMM, JKL, Zombie and Twist) all of which made me play my best BB.
It was great to meet so many new coaches and add a few more faces to some screen names. |

Glad everybody made it home safely, thanks for supporting the SPIKE! you guys, hope to see you all at some other tournaments throughout the year and maybe this time I won't tie 50% of my games... I guess my Dwarves should really sit down from tourny's for a while.
well, 4 weeks and the infamous Wood Elves will make their appearance trying to claim what is rightfully theirs (if it weren't for some sporting backstabbing in the final game).
oh ya, 1 question for Anthony or whoever does the NAF stuff, when do the changes to rankings change? Not that it will really make a difference for me with 2 wins and 1 loss and all the rest being ties! grr... |

Sionis and I got back last night around 10 pm CST. 30 hours in the car over 4 days makes for a sore tailbone.
Thanks to everyone for the great event and the awesome hospitality.
Going up against 5 straight TBBFers was quite the "fun" experience.
Thanks again for the tourney. Oh, almost forgot, Anthony don't forget my shirt buddy. |

Just wanted to hop on and say thanks to Anthony and Ian et all..
This was my first Tourny NAF or otherwise and I had a great time.
Played quite well.. HECK I played Jon in the 6th round.. stunned me!! (three times to my gutter runner in fact) and found that my Skaven at my skill level were no match for those Chaos Dwarves with Guard!!!
Great meeting all of you.. Thanks again to Old Man Monkey for your generosity! (Both on and off the pitch - a great sport in my book!)
Looking forward to running into most of you again soon I hope!!

I had a great time as well. Everybody was really sporting and I had tons of fun in all my matches. Great deal of thanks to those who came from afar - you show the lazy bums (like me) up with your dedication. Wish I got to play OMM in the sixth match though - it would've been hilarious to frustrate his desire to crush me once again, coming up all the way from FL and all! He he.
Sorry I couldn't hang out with y'all afterwards - my gf was giving me grief.
I'll see y'all at the Deathbowl.

gken1 wrote: just seemed odd. I personally think the sportsmanship points are silly for bloodbowl tourney's. Because it's easier to find the most unsporting player than sporting player--everyone is usually very sporting.
Just a point for future I think that the tiebreakers should have been TD diff + CAS diff. TD diff favors one type of team more than others.
still great job Anthony.
Yeah I'm still not sure of the best way to do sportsmanship. This one was OK I suppose but it still isn't clear enough. Part of the problem is that everyone has a different notion of what bad sportsmanship is - ie. calling IPs, stalling, looking up rules.
I still think TD diff is the best way to break ties because it rewards both offence and defence. Most teams that can dish out the beatings can take them too which is why I only ever use it as a secondary tie breaker. |

I proposed something for sportsmanship after the tournament, and the guys i was talking to thought it was a good idea. Have people give scores of 1 to 3, but they can't give more than one 3 and one 1.
This should be enough for an above average sportsman to stand out from the crowd (and similarly for a below average one). It also avoids the problem of people giving all 3s most of the time. |

Thanks to Anthony and Ian for organizing a great event...it was alot of fun and everything ran smoothly. One suggestion for next time: More security at the awards table.
Be sure to make some sort of Gob-Proof Security System.
I enjoyed the six games I had, (Even the 5-0 drubbing that I took at the hands of McSnagga's Skaven.) and look forward to facing you all again at future events.
@ OMM, Cyberhare, & gken1...you guys can only dodge me for so long.
@ Clan-Skaven...Congrats on the three-win day at Spike!, but don't think that I'll forget about the challange. Be ready at Death Bowl!!!
@ JayLazer...Thanks for making it possible for me to attend...I appreciated the lift. (But still look forward to pounding the prissy WoodElves as soon as possible. )
For anyone else who cares...the Humans are getting temporarily shelved in favor for their smaller in stature, if not larger in appetite, cousins. The 'Flings will be taking the field in DeathBowl 2.
Beware The Squirtville Belly Busters!!! |
