AnthonyTBBF,
Now that I hear your thoughts on why TD's are used as the tie braker, I see where you are coming from...but it still favors the fast teams the way it stands. Why not use TD for/TD Against differential? That adds another step for the TO to figure out, but percenatges do more to take away any racial advantage more then straight-TDs do.
Just a thought...

If you look at how the Spike! turned out...Torg was the only team to have beaten the eventual champion. Furthermore, I believe that he only gave up 2 TDs in the whole process. If I am remembering that correctly, that's a pretty tough pill to swallow to have not made the final at a point when you are undefeated AND won and tied against the teams "ahead" of you in the only head-to-head match-ups. |

I believe TD differential was what was used. Tds for - Tds against.
Ben, Torg (who I assume is Todd?) and myself were all tied for points after round 5. Ben was way ahead on TD differential and I was ahead of Torg. Knowing the system, I had taken some risks throughout the day to get TDs, even when the games were already won and all I would have to do is stall.

Anthony,
Similar to what Zombie was saying, I believe that if people rated everyone from one to three, but then chose one person who they felt was the best sport of the lot, (hard, I know seeing as you were all such a great bunch!) but by choosing the one they felt was the best, this would certainly narrow down the field, if not determine the overall "best".
I believe that a similar system was implemented at the Conflict, no?

Not sure, but yeah Zombie was talking about his idea after the Spike and I think it would work well. I will try and convince Ian to do it for the Canadian Open. |

AnthonyTBBF, Ok...differential was used...fair enough.
Kolja_TBBF, I did not realize that this was published...knowing full well that I was not going to be anywhere near the top I didn't even bother to look into this. But now I know that I'm armed with this info, the 'Flings will be hell bent for TD's so that they make it into the DeathBowl!!!

To be perfectly honest, this being my first tourney, I didn't THINK I'd be in contention in the end. And I didn't fully digest the implications concerning the tie-breakers. Hindsight being 20/20, I definately would have done some things different in my games, but alas...I'll chalk it up to a learning experience.
Still doesn't do anything to diminish my sincere gratitude to the hosts for their hospitality.
Thanks again. |

Put it this way, we'll all be scared silly when we are matched up with you at the next one... That's a pretty impressive performance for your first event. |

I don't know ... I was a little scared when you tried to steal my box of Chez-its. |

yah..remember we let you win that one. It still sounds weird, even now. 3 TBBF'ers and 1 other guy make it to the final and we let the other guy win. WEIRD. |

I think a problem that came up in the end was that kojila, Ben, torg and I were the top 4. torg had already played ben and kojila but Ben was #1 with TD diff. So I played Ben and kojila/torg played the next ranked players. If I had played torg and ben/kojila played each other there probably wouldn't have been a need for a tie breaker. But it doesn't matter to me since I was out anyway. More for Torg---just a crappy way to get knocked out and it didn't make me beating him in the final game any fun since he was "out of it".

It did go into OT. That's when i scored my 3rd TD. It took minimum 3 turns for me to score a TD, so it would have been impossible for me to score 3 in the 2nd half alone. The game ended after 3 turns of OT. |
