blitzer -> sure hands
Then some dirty players on the cannon fodder and finally guard on the longbeard.
No big guy because the extra players are more important in this kind of team.
If the blitzer is gone I'm screwed but what the heck, living on the edge!
How about replacing the amazon blitzer and one of the skeletons or zombies by a wardancer? Surely having +2 MA, +1 AG and leap on your ball carrier is worth losing your 14th player, right?
And how about trading a reroll for an apothecary? Protecting your investment! |

Tought about both those suggestions but a wardancer is overkill, I just need a reliable ball carrier to score on turn 8 in this team and in my experience the 14th player will indeed make a difference (foul, foul, foul you know). And with 4 blockless mummies anything less then 3 re-rolls is not very effective. |

What is the longbeard there for? Tackle? Guard? For use between two mummies on defense on the LoS? |

He will be assisting the mummies. I think longbeards are perfect for the job. They are hard to take out of the game and tackle makes it riskier for those pansy elves to run away from your mummies. And he has block so he is usefull for throwing 1 die blocks at people that try to lock up the mummies with cheap stuff like zombies. Shame I could only fit 1 in there tough. |

Let me just start off by saying that I think that having a tourney with this kind of team-creation would be a lot of fun! Not to mention giving us the opportunity to paint models that we wouldn't otherwise!
I gave it some thought and this is what I came up with:
4 longbeards - 280
4 norse linemen - 200
1 werewolf - 120
1 wardancer - 120
1 beast of nurgle - 120
2 rerolls - 100
1 apothecary- 50
1 FF - 10
Skills development would be sure hands for the werewolf, strip ball for the wardancer and guard for the longbeards.
The team was built as much around allowing the team to do what I wanted them to do as it was in preventing the opponent from having their way. (the beast of Nurgle is really excellent for this with his foul appearance and tentacles).
So what are the thoughts, and more importantly who is going to host this style of tournament!! |

I posted this more as a theoretical discussion, but if people are interested, maybe we could mix this with the Double Bowl idea. It would solve the bashing team problem and could make for a very interesting, very different tournament. What do you think? |

And now Zombie is considering moving from a "theoretical discussion" into <gasp> playtesting?? Zombie himself has professed that he is more into the theory than the playtesting.
Are you sure, you're ready for this big step, Zombie??

I don't see it as playtesting. I see it more as playing. |

I was wondering, for any of those who are going to the Deathbowl, would you want to try this one out after hours? We could borrow the needed figs or even proxy if necessary. I think it would be a lot of fun to actually try this one out!

Well I am at the mercy of my ride, but if we can manage something then I would certainly be more than interested!

Let me make a small change to my roster. I originally had a high elf thrower until i figured that i could get a pro elf one for 10k less. Not knowing what to spend that extra 10k on, i ended up going for an extra FF.
Now, i hate going with more than 1 FF and feel that this is a waste. I finally thought of a way to spend that extra 10k. It hit me in the face, crystal clear : add one more player! Yes indeed, i could use that 10k to turn a norse lineman into 2 skeletons!
So now, my roster becomes :
1 Minotaur 110k
1 Wardancer 120k
1 Pro elf thrower 70k
1 Beastman 60k
5 Norse linemen 250k
3 Zombies 90k
3 Skeletons 90k
1 Apothecary 50k
3 Rerolls 150k
1 FF 10k
Total 1000k, including 15 players, 1 apo and 3 rerolls.
Skills : Block (Minotaur), Dirty player (Skeleton), Strip ball (Wardancer), Block (Beastman), Dirty player (Skeleton), Dirty player (Skeleton).
Double : Leader (Norse lineman). |
