Whats the verdict?.....i am interetsed in peoples experiences with and against them....seems to me that lack of skills to start with would make them a steep learning curve......

they play alot differently than practically any other team out there. They are a hard team to defend against because of the hypnotic gaze, but when the team goes bad.....it goes really bad.

As long as you manage to keep Blood Lust in check, Vamps can go against any team, as the opponent usually is so fixed on your Vamps, the Thralls can pull of the game.

But expect evrything giong down the drain as soon as tou fail Blood Lust test without re-rolls.

The team is hard to play, but very fun. Just don't take them if you consider yourself a whiner or don't like to lose.

Pro is the first skill to get for the vamps, that will help with the bloodlust rolls. That is the best piece of advice that I got for coaching this team.

For those of you play against them, best advice I have is try and squash the Thralls to jelly as soon as you can.

If you can stall then early on, Vamp teams usually self dustruct in the later parts of the game. They are a great team if you like high body counts.

Dumb tactic? I am toying with an idea for a starting Vamp team, but I don't know if it's a bad idea. I'm thinking of taking the hit when my Vamps are OFAB and just have them run into the crowd...this will spare my Thralls and force them to sink or swim on their own. Granted with no skills and AV 7 they are headed for trouble...but it can't really be aby worse than what the Vamps inflict on them.

Any thoughts?

I imagine that your Thralls will probably survive longer, but your team won't fare so well on the win/lose side of things.

If it is for a league, then the only reason that I would spare a thrall is if the only one available to be bitten is a skilled one. In a tourney, I would never choose to remove a thrall.

The vamps are great players - not only for their stats and skills, but for the terror that they cause int he opposition. Voluntarily removing one from the pitch is not a good idea!

Imagine trying to play a wood elf team where everyone had a 3 agility. Ouch! Shocked That is what you will have! Skull

In the few games I've had with them the Thralls get easily beaten up with the Vamps on the pitch - if you let them go off I think just as many Thralls will die as your opponents will be able to concentrate on them more.

My Vamps have done pretty well up to the point where they spectacuarly fail a crucial roll and it all goes pear shaped. I found them hard work so I have to admit I shelved them for a bit and went back to Humans.

@Spazz-
I don't think that there is a WoodElf player that can injure his own player...not to mention multiple players per turn since it isn't a turn over. Smile I haven't played as many games as you have, given that you have played them ina league, but it has already happened several times where I have lost multiple Thralls in a turn to the friggin Vampires. It's like having multiple mini-Thrudds on your team.

I'd say 6 3 3 7 and no skills is more of a liability than bloodlust, specially long term after your vampires have pro

That is true...I'm saying in the short-term until Pro is had.

Let's put it this way...the team has a better chance of not being retired after 4-5 games if the Thralls are left to their own devices...the casualty count can get pretty high if the dice go the wrong way.

Again...just my opinion...worthless though it may be, Smile
I think I'll give that a shot for the next league just to see it in practise. (Away from Fumbble that is.)
