The biggest problem you will need to overcome is the number of games people play and how that will be disparate.

The typical problem is that you will have some people playing 2+ games a week, and others playing 1 game a month. (for example).

This disaprity greatly changes the development of the two levels of teams.

Are you planning to use inducements like the Vault uses? How do you plan to solve the huge disparity in team ratings that will result from an 'open' structure?

That's the biggest problem to overcome. It's why the vault has come into being. I'm not saying it's the best solution - but it's one attempt.

You know in our league we had a minimum number of games you had to play.

But aside from that some people just played. They didn't care if they made the top 8 or not.

But with the way the game is going winning is everything and having fun is less important than the competition. The idea that some people in our league never played enough games to make the quarter finals and they didn't care is just lost on some people.

I don't mind if people are just playing for fun or not, the problem is that level of fun is reduced with vastly disparate teams playing each other - e.g. a TR 300+ team playing a TR 125 team. That's less fun than a more closely contested match.

I'm not advocating everyone has to be in it to win it - otherwise there'd be no halfling teams!

Halflings won the finals at a league I know of in Illinois.

They have decided (as I already knew) that flings didn't need as much help as they got.

And in our league we never had such large TR gaps in games. There were well developed team but they were unable to pick on rookie teams unless the rookie team challenged them.

Pretty easy solution without all that messy inducements crap...that doesn't really work anyway.

In my league, 61 teams, some coaches have 5 of them, I as a commish make the match ups for league nights. I allways pair teams that are not more than 10 TR away from eachother ..

that only goes pear shaped if a team has a lot of MNM or Nigs on board ..

that's apart from our sceduled tournaments obviously ..

That would lead to zero games in my league very quickly. - nah small tiny leagues need to have a couple of teams each for variety and play untill a reset is needed. maybe 6 months is ok, but would say after 14 months some match ups will be hard - and very dull

I believe the league the GW staff are running is up to about 8 teams now - I'm mid-table with Dwarfs, as it is being judged on TR for placings, and out of 4 casualities suffered, 3 have been kills - 1 before I bought an Apothecary, and 2 after, when I forgot I had him (oops).

You're telling me? I was top of the league till two players died, and I could only affor a Longbeard replacement - ignoring SPPs lost, that's a straight drop of 10 on my TR.

Now, if I could get through armour a bit better, I'd be killing a few more people and seeing how they like them apples - though I think my next game is meant to be vs Orcs.
