I guess the point is simpler to me. I don't care what rules set the on line Blood Bowl leagues use. I don't care what concoction comes out in '07, I do care what rules set we are using in NAF tourneys.
Shouldn't the NAF rankings reflect a consistent rules set for games played? Shouldn't the coaches have some influence or representation regarding the rules we play under.
The body of blood bowl coaches is the game without us Jervis is just a designer of a game nobody plays.
At some point in the future a break from GW is inevitable. |

Guffaw! You're new here aren't you. We've had easily a dozen threads about that. It would be nice but it won't happen.
The rankings are nearly meaningless, meant more for you and your friends than an actual comparison worldwide. There are some interesting statictics but you have to take them all with a grain of salt, realizing that almost all tourneys have a set of house rules that may or may not boost or hinder certain teams... regen 5+, Chaos mutations instead of a normal skill, secret weapons, stars, reroll costs skewed....blah blah blah. They're all fun and add to the tourney experience but they all keep rankings from being equal. It's too bad but that's the way it is. |

"That's the way it is is" is never a legitimate justification for anything.
If anything, it should be the motivation for change. |

Unfortunately, that is exactly what the Vault ruleset is doing, and was a point I made to galak very early in the process.
For example, we're playing LRB with a few idea nicked from the Vault, a few houserules, and a few things retroactively brought back from LRB 3.0.
Guys up the road from us (20 miles or so) are playing 3.0 exclusively.
I can go there (or them here) for a pick-up game with next to no bother.
If they decide to play the Vault, that will no longer happen.
The Golden Age of BB is over, now for t's steady decline again. |

@ mightyZug - when the NAF start dictating what rules a TO can use, that's the day I leave the NAF.
If the rankings were meant to be taken seriously, then fine, a single set of rules would (ans should) be made. But they're not, they are for a laugh and the occansional bragging/ragging rights.
I much prefer to tourneys with various rules, than play the same rules over and over. |

those are good points, the naf shouldn't force the rules on tourneys, but i still agree with zug that throwing away the rules reveiw process for the vault is disaster, and something outside of gw's debacle attempts at the game should be considered. |

Thankfully the majority of NAFers agree with you (I know I do). Lets hope it stays that way. |
