Who needs passing play when there's a Bull Centaur holding the ball? |

That's what your re-rolls are for, and then you give him sure hands after the first match |

Block is the other way I could go. I guess it depends on whether or not you're allowed to stack skills on the same player or if you have to distribute them evenly after each match. |

If I did go with them I would probably use one of my hobgoblins too pick up the ball and my bull centaurs for fighting! |

I just think using a ST4 player as a ball handeler is a waste! |

Try playing a 3 strength team against someone who does use their ballcarrier this way! Playing defence against this is a nightmare for any predominantly 3 strength team. It's one reason I always suggest 3 strength team needs to have Dauntless whenever possible. |

You might but I don't. Not everyone leaves enough guys back. With ST4 your opponent needs to get 2 guys on him to get a 1 die block. With the 9 MV of the BC, he's going to have a hard time doing that. It's almost like he's carrying his own assist with him. You can't beat that. |

I use one of my 2 BC as a ball carrier (got lucky and rolled double, so he has Catch, on top of Break Tackle and Block !) and he's a nightmare for the opposition!
My other BC has Block and Strip Ball, as I use him more defensively. What do you think should be his next skill ? I'm hesitating on 3: Guard, Mighty Blow and Break Tackle. On double, either Dodge or Stand Firm. What do you think ?

I'd go for Break Tackle. That way, your opponent will always have to account for him. |

all of your starting rosters seem strange to me, you have to remember the advantages the Hats have over other teams - namely a dead-hard front line, cheap and expendable hobgobs and a nasty blitzer in the Bull Centaur.
i took Chaos Dwarves to both the Pandemonium and Orion Cup this year, just ask Anthony how i did in those.
my roster for Pandemonium wasn't really geared to winning, but nevertheless here it is: (note - star players were not allowed in this tourney)
1 Bull Centaur
5 Blockers
6 Hobgoblins
4 Rerolls
8 Fan Factor
this gives you some staying power (having 12 guys plus lots of av9 and block), some ball-handling with plenty of rerolls, and a Bull Centaur to crack cages and generally be a nuisance. Fan Factor is a bit of a mystery still, you want it, and it can really help you, but is it worth 'weakening' your roster?
Here's what i took to the Orion Cup:
1 Bull Centaur
6 Blockers
6 Hobgoblins
3 Rerolls
6 Fan Factor
Plenty of staying power with 13 guys and six dwarves, decent fan factor, especially since everyone else's will be only one or two. I was also blessed in the second game with an AG+, which i gave to a hobgoblin. it saved my bacon on one or two occasions.
Skills: take block for the BC and Dirty Player for a hobgoblin. Foul early, foul often. The fact that i could foul aplenty and not worry about being kicked out (having 13 guys) meant i had a huge advantage over the smash-heavy Orc teams with 11 players, as well as the dodgy teams like Skaven and Elves. Once the dwarves (tackle is lovely) had brought them down, the dirty hobgob could finish them off. it was a really handy combination. only having three rerolls isn't much of a problem with 6 fan factor (especially with so much Block) since you can win some with cheering fans. also, if you have +5 or 6 to the roll... hope for the pitch invasion or thrown rock... very handy at the right time.
Chaos Dwarves have a lot of advantages in a short tournament, probably why they're doing so well in the Naf rankings right now. |
