Post subject: Blood Bowl Training Camp

| Some coaches in my area are looking to the local Battle Bunker (Philly) as a site to host our league games. Additionally, in an effort to expand the league, what we would also like to do there is host a sort of "Training Camp" for new or interested coaches. To give them a chance to learn the game, play against some experienced coaches, etc... What I'm wondering is how to teach the game to a group. I can sit down with one person and play a game against them (or watch over two new coaches) explaining many of the rules as we go, but how would you do that for a larger group and keep interest? Any advice? |

Get more volunteers in the area to help you out to keep group numbers down. Try PMing KarlLagerbottom, jaylazer, bampf, zinak, and any else on the PA coach locator list to see if they're interested  |

I've done this with BB and various games at conventions. Good preparation is key.
Allow about 1/2 hour to explain the rules to the group, and field a few questions. Talk them all through the first kick-off as a group. Then float between the games answering quesstions. If there's a good question, announce it and the answer to the group. By the end of the first half they should be pretty well set.
I like to prepare 1 or 2 copies of the basic rules to go with each board -- with the table of contents page on the front and the kick-off table on the back. I also make 2 cheat sheets for each of my teams. These are sort of like the Orc & Human ones in the box, but a more manageable size. I list the player stats, skill rules for those players, the block table and the agillity table + its various modifiers. Each player gets a copy of their team's and their opponent's for reference.

There are more of us that are on the NAF site.
I'm from Harrisburg.
SteelThunder is from Reading, PA.
I could name more.
We could move to Philly to Harrisburg, then from Harrisburg and back to Philly.
** When I teach a new coach, to me the most important aspect of the game is "Blocking" and the use of Strengths with assists to determine how many Block Dice are rolled.
