That's a great list, but looks like people who already know about Blood Bowl. how do you describe it to someone who's never played?? What are people that have never played most likely to be interested in?

Ah that's easy because working on the new Blood Bowl rulebook on planes and airports has lead me to describing it many many times to folks that have no clue what it is.

My pat answer is:

It is a board game with metal figurine playing pieces simulating what Football games would look like in the United States if the races from the Lord of the Rings played the game.

Because of the movies ... this gets me 90% there with most folks.

Galak

That's a great explanation for the average person. Mentioning LOTR makes it easier.

That's a sentence... not keywords. I need keywords. What I've gotten from that is:

Lord Rings football
board game football
game football simulation

Obvioulsy you can't use the term "fantasy football" because that brings up an entirely different thing. How do you explain "fantasy" without saying Fantasy!?!?

What would you type into google and be happy you found Blood Bowl because you had never heard of it? What if you were trying to find something for your kid for x-mas?

sports D&D
sports board games
sports minitures
electric football
football boardgame

TBH John, keywords aren't where it's at for indexing these days. Poperly formatted HTML and content will help you much more. It's really best to have the wrinting inside your HTML be accessible to the search engine spiders, and also making sure you make proper use of tags like <h1>, <h2> etc. My Google ranking is nuts for the sites I've done this for.

So I guess my advice is: writing and content are the key.

I'm talking google ads. Need keywords for that.

Let me be more specific... what keywords would accidentily find you looking at blood bowl if you didn't know it existed but you would be interested in the game. In otherwords, what web searches are best for advertising blood bowl to NEW/UNKNOWN players.

Ah I see.

In that case, do you mean people who are completely new to gaming? Or people who might be familair with some aspect of miniatures gaming (ie. MageKnight type games).

NFL football Fantasy Strategy D&D LOTR MageKnight HeroClix Magic Gathering Warhammer

Don't be shy about pulling in a good potential crossover audience... the people MOST likely to take up BB are, to my reckoning, people who already have an open mind to fantasy and games in general. When I try to sell friends on the game, it's usually "fantasy football strategy" as my summary -- but if somebody's going to be put off by elves, why waste your time? HeroClix, MageKnight, Magic fans (etc.) are a good bet, because these are already people into fantasy gaming with a strong strategy component.

"Warhammer Lite" is also a good pitch in a weird way -- a lot of people (myself included) have always been interested in the "Mega" GW games, but intimidated by them. BB is the perfect balance.

Well I would probably start off by listing those games specifically, as well as any terms associated with them.
