Chaos mutations:
Maybe you should allow chaos to get mutations at the regular cost (a doubles roll) but no more than one of each mutation per team.
Really, the big ones are claw, big hand, razor sharp claws, tentacles, very long legs.
I was tempted to take chaos for this tourney but even at 1250k, it's not a good team without a mutation or two.
BTW, the rules for the Canadian open aren't clear that you cannot take mutations already. A strict reading implies that you can only take skills and no traits, actually.

| When I originally wrote those rules the intention was that the doubles roll was for anything you normally need to roll doubles in for. |

But keep in mind that there are several tournaments out there now that rtealize that even with a few mutations chaos are not a really tournament worthy team. But allowing the chaos coaches to have a few of them as regular skills encourages their play.
I will not be playing chaos, but feel that they should be having their mutations at 30K each. |

| I think they should be 50K each to keep it in line with doubles purchases for other races, espeically Skaven. |

While it is nice to have everything and everyone treated the same, it is also nice to encourage some variety by cutting the chaos coaches soem slack.
Even with the discount, the chaos team sucks. Let them have it cheaper and enjoy playing with more mutations. Skaven should still have to pay full price as they are a very competitive team in tournaments and do not need the extra help (or encouragement to get people to play them).
I mean c'mon, if Lagerbottom and I can agree..... 
EDIT - haven't heard what your decision is on the goblin secret weapons yet. Approve the quick before Kolja and Anthony put their brand of hate on them!  |

So skaven can get mutations for 50k each? Woot! Maybe I will switch to skaven.
You are kidding, right? I can get a claw for a storm vermin? Somehow, I was under the impression that no one could buy mutations in the tourneys back in the day.... |

If you allow chaos to get 30k mutations, I will play a chaos team. I promise. I would take a claw and a big hand and that's about it. Make sure to limit it to 1 type of mutation/team.
To be honest, I am not sure if they need it but they are a pretty crappy team at low TR -- they rely too much on luck to win a tourney.

As for secret weapons, I think only gobbos should be able to get them. Allow the gobbos to buy the secret weapons stars (LRB4) for their team. So NobblaBlackwart would cost 80k to add to the gobbo roster.

I always thought that Mutations were ok for Chaos and Skaven before as long as they were taken after Game 3's Double Skill slot. (Assuming what seemed to be the standard skill progression that alot of North American tournies used.)
However, in an effort to make Cahos a more viable Tourney option...alot of tournies in 2005 allowed Chaos to take mutations in place of their normal skills. After each game...but they could not be stacked.
This tourney makes the discussion a bit cloudier because players can stack basic skills. This seemed to open up the possibility of Chaos playes being able to stack skills and mutations OR two mutations even. There are some pretty scary combo's out there. Well the Chaos Warrior that I mentioned before with Big Hand and Sure Hands might not be scary exactly from a bashy perspective...but he sure would make a nice ball carrier. However, if stacking with skills and mutations is not permitted than Chaos isn't going to cut it in a tourney with all of the other teams being as juicy.
Just my 2 cents.
