Geez...the Ogre on my Human Team was named Krunk.
Apparently, mine is also a gift to be respected and feared.

I'm hoping everyone realises this is NOT a documentary.
Christianity is not quite like what's portrayed. I'm a Christian and I role-play. I play Blood Bowl. Heck, I teach my students at the Christian school I teach at how to paint miniatures. I'm even giving them a plastic 2nd Ed Orc lineman next term to paint!
However, most Christians can take a joke. If you cannot, then you must not be Christian, but ... another religion
(I hope you get the reference to recent events).
The Christians portrayed are no more realistic than the role players portrayed. They aren't real, but caricatures for humorous purposes.
Enough said. If you have issues with me discussing / defending Christianity, PM me.
And Have a great Easter. You know, the holiday to remember Christ's Death and his resurrection. The Easter Bunny is the spawn of Satan sent to hide the true meaning of Easter |

Guess this might get messy, but I knew a couple of Christians like that, real "blood & fire" people that were officers at the Salvation Army Corp I attended when I was young. Another couple of officiers I knew forbid us from playing a Christian-based RPG hat we won in a chrisitian young peoples newspaper because "you'll go to hell if you kill those orcs" - seriously!
But then, I also knew some RPG'ers that were pretty close to those guys in the film, so no harm done. |

My wife's grandmother is a pentacostal Christian, and when my wife had complications during our sons childbirth, and then later nearly died in a car accident caused by a deer running into her car, made the comment (and had her minister/pastor/whatever call us) that the games I play (evil "bloodbowl" being one of them) and the idols I keep in the house (aka: miniatures) we're bringing evil spirits into our lives...
Yes, most Christians aren't like that, but there's a very vocal minority that are, and they deserve to get poked fun of... |

Heh, thats not realistic at all. There are at least 3 girls playing D&D in that comic. That doesn't exist anywheres |

That's my point. But they're the minority - the crazy fringe - I hope.
My wife is more hardcore on these issues than I am. Just because there is a crazy vocal minority doesn't mean there isn't a point to their argument (Christianity I'm referring to - not going to hell if you kill orcs in a D&D roleplay ) just like:
* environmentalism
* animal rights activists
* Blood Bowlers (some of us are pretty strange right?)
There are some crazy fringe people. Doesn't mean that there isn't some sense in what they are saying, at less feverous level.
So thanks Darkson. Good discussion. |
