Coaches of the Great White North!
I am planning on going to the UK next year for the World Cup. After talking to Brian on the weekend I think it's time we start getting our act together and planning for the trip.
I realize the this may seem like it will be too expensive for most people. But I think with a little hard work we can pull it off. What I would like to do is put together the best team possible to kick some Euro ass and bring the Cup to Canada where it belings
I have some ideas for fund raising that I would like to discuss with you guys. My goal is to try and raise as much money as possible to make the trip virtually painless in the wallet region. I would really like to take the top tourney performers to compete with alternates if available. Personally I am thinking of playing as an alternate or rounding out the team if we are short, as well as maybe entering some painting competetions if they have one.
So whaddya say? Who is interested in going? Who is interested in fund raising etc.? Who thinks we should get Zombie over to the UK to meet his fans?! |

If we can make it relatively painless in the wallet department, I may be able to convince M that it won't mean she will miss out on a different trip with me - and then I could go.
Lets see how I do at the N.America cup...

I think it's a good idea to try and include our significant others in the trip. Afterall a week in the UK is a good time and there is more than enough to keep them busy when we are being nerds. The shopping alone should be enough to convince them to go |

I think that any fundraising would be a good idea to ensure we can get a good showing out there.
Let the Brits get the full Zombie experience! But God help us all (yes Zombie, I said "God") if another trophy makes it's way back to Montreal! |

I'm up for doing whatever it takes to make this happen. I would love to go myself as i have never been to Europe and I'm sure my better half would love to go also.
Count me in!!

I'll throw my name out for consideration. I've got alot of things that could affect my ability to go next year, but I'm planning to go now so I might as well help get ready.
Fund raising sounds like a good idea. How about every time you beat someone at a tournament, they have to give you $20 to help pay your trip
Seriously though, count me in for Team Canada. |

I am interested on helping out Team Canada how I can, as I will almost definitely not be going.
Do you think auctioning off a custom made board would be a good way to raise funds? I will do it, if it would fetch enough money. What do you think the best forum would be? NAF? At the Q'ermitt? Ebay? |

That is defintely a good idea. Every little bit helps.
I would advertise it on all the boards and use EBay to do the auction. I have to figure out how all this is gonna work yet so hang on to that idea. |

I'm in though it's very unlikely I'll be playing for Team Canada. Possibly as an alternate if needed. I'll be very busy running the event.
I totally agree we should try to get as many wives/girlfriends to go with us. The bigger a group we head over with the bigger a blast this will be. Now that we probably won't be in Nottingham there should be plenty of time for sight seeing as well. If we look at making this a weeks vacation and all head in and out on the same day I'm sure we can get a good price on some group rate tickets. We'll just need to book early. |
