Ok ladies and gents here's the rules for the North America Team event. These are also pretty much the rules for the World Cup in 2007.

*************************************

Rules for the 2006 New World Cup

The following are the rules for the 2006 New World Cup. These rules may be amended without notice so please check back often to make sure you have the latest information.

Unless otherwise stated below we will be using the Blood Bowl Living Rule Book Version 4.0 for this tournament. You can download the Living Rule book at www.specialist-games.com or you can contact the tournament organizers.

FORMAT

The New World Cup is a team event. Individual wins, losses and ties will affect the overall team score as opposed to each individual coaches standings.

Teams may be formed by any coaches agreeing to play together as a team. Each team must be made up of 5 coaches. A team may also have 2 alternates.

Teams may not duplication roster races. Each team must have 5 different BB races, no more, no less. If a team has alternates these rosters may not duplicate any race that is already represented in the team..

Before the matchups are announced for each round of play the team captain must decide if any alternate players will play in place of a team member. Coaches may not swap rosters. No changes to the team lineup will be allowed once matchups have been announced.

The tournament will run for 6 rounds.The first round teams will be paired off by combined NAF ranking of the teams coaches. Each coaches best NAF ranking will be used to calculate total NAF score, even if that ranking is not of the race they are playing in the event. The following rounds teams will be paired off swiss style based on game play results. There will not be a champioinship round. Final results will be determined by points from all previous rounds of play.

ROSTER INFORMATION

All rosters must be a 100tr starting roster. Coaches have the standard 1,000,000 crowns with which to build their teams.

*NOTE*- A standard skill is any skill that a player may take on a skill roll without rolling a double.

OFFICIAL TOURNAMENT TEAMS

* Amazons
* Chaos
* Chaos Dwarf
* Dark Elf
* Dwarf
* Goblin
* Halfling
* High Elf
* Human
* Khemri
* Lizardman
* Necromatic
* Norse
* Nurgle
* Ogre
* Orc
* Pro Elf
* Skaven
* Undead
* Wood Elf
* Vampire

* Rules for these teams can be found in the Living Rule Book.

SKILL ADVANCEMENT

After each round coaches may take one standard skill (normal roll) for a player on their roster. No player may get more than one extra skill. These new skills may not be given to any player who has already received a skill. This will be the only way to advance players during the tournament. We will not officially track SPP's for the tournament. After game 3 coaches may take a non standard skill (doubles roll) or a standard skill at the coaches choice.

* Please note that Mummies as well all Big Guy's do not have access to the General category of Skills & Traits.

After each round, teams will be reset to their starting roster. In other words, there will be no long term injury effects. Rolling for cash, Fan Factor etc. is not necessary. The only thing that will change is the additional skill you choose after each game.

Skills - Dirty Player

The Dirty Player skill will give a +1 to either the armour roll or the injury roll.

MUTATIONS

Chaos and Nurgle teams may take mutations as standard skill picks on Chaos Warriors, Nurgle Rotters, and Beastmen. There is a limit of one Claw(s) mutation per team.

NO ROLLS TO UNSTUN

No roll is required to unstun for any Big Guy though they do need to roll to stand up.

STAR PLAYERS & WIZARDS

Star Players and Wizards may not be hired for The New World Cup.

Undead and Necromatic teams have of course a Necromancer as their Head Coach. Unfortunately their ability to raise the dead will not work on players killed during this tournament.

HALFLING MASTER CHEF

Those darn halflings simply won't go anywhere without a chief, usually passing them off as their head coach to gain tournament entry, and it seems that The New World Cup is no exception. The Halfling Master Chef is allowed to participate in the tournament. This will allow one d6 roll per half with which a result of 2+ results in the gain of a Team re-roll while causing the opposing team to lose a team re-roll. Additional rolls may be purchased at team creation but since everything costs more at a tournament, including the food, extra rolls will cost 80,000 gps each.

SECRET WEAPONS

Goblin coaches, and only goblin coaches, may purchase one secret weapon (ball & chain, chainsaw, bomb, or pogo stick) for 70k (in addition to the cost of goblin to wield it).

ILLEGAL PROCEDURE

Illegal procedure calls will not cause turnovers during the tournament. Nor will they cause the loss or gain of rerolls. If you notice that your opponent has done something to cause an illegal procedure then politely note to him his error.

Tournament Dice

One of the biggest factors that effects a game of Blood Bowl is the outcome of dice rolls. That being the case we want to ensure that the playing field is fair for everyone at the tournament. Coaches will be provided with 2d6 at the beginning of each round. These dice will be the only d6's allowed for game play. A coach may request to use his opponents set if he feels that the set he has is somehow "defective". Each coach must return these dice at the end of each round to the tournament official when they turn in their game report. In this manner each coach will get a fresh set of die for each round of play during the tournament.

Coaches will be expected to provide their own block dice and d8's. Coaches must be willing to share dice if their opponent asks to do so.

Ties

At the end of two halves of play (a standard game) if the score is tied a game is declared a tie. Coaches will not play a half of overtime to try and break the tie.

Scoring

After each game coaches will record their game results on the results form. Each round will be scored as follows. Each individual win, loss or draw will affect the overall teams score in the following manner..

Individual Win = 1 point to your nation
Individual Draw = 0.5 point to your nation
Individual Loss = 0 points

TEAM APPEARANCE

All figure used during the event must be painted and representative. Coaches who do not arrive at the event with a painted and representative roster will not be permitted to play until their figures are both painted and representative. Any missed matches due to painting will count as an individual win for the opposing team.

IMPORTANT: It will be up to the tournament officials to determine if a roster is represenative and painted. The decission of tournament officials are final and will not be discussed or debated. In order to pass inspection all models on a roster must fulfill the criteria. If even one model fails the roster will not be cleared for play. If in doubt, send images of the teams beforehand to the tourney officials and BRING A RESERVE TEAM YOU KNOW IS ELIGIBLE.

Why are there no IPs? The new rules (loose a reroll or your opponent gains one) aren't that harsh. Most of the people there are good enough to know to move their counter and its not like they're loosing their turn anymore.

If you post rule ammendments here, then isn't that giving notice? If you don't give notice of a rule ammendment (as you claim the power to be able to) then posting it here would defeat that purpose. Smile

I'll also officially confirm Team TBBF (who may become Team Canada if no one else from here comes down) consisting of?

Myself (Paul Connors)
Cam Weaver
Anthony Watts
Koila Eppert
Ben Tusim

It's still harsh enough for a tournament. Giving your oponent that extra reroll simply because you forgot to move a counter as a little excessive as far as I'm concerned. That rule has also turned a rule that before simply screwed your opponent into something that is now possibly for personal gain. It doesn't add anything to the friendly spirit of the event I like to try to create. I don't want people sitting there waiting to jump on their opponent because they forgot to move a silly piece of cardboard so they can get an extra reroll.

What will you be looking at for representative players? Assuming I'm not using the standard figures for say Skaven or Orcs. Is color scheme sufficient or different base colors, to differentiate Gutter Runners from Line Rats or Black Orcs from Blitzers?

Is NAF membership a requirement for the tournament? If so, will you have the ability to register people on site?

Thanks

Representative meanes that if you're coaching a team of Dwarves you're not using a lineup of Amazon figs to represent them. If you have an Ogre on your roster you shouldn't be using Zug to represent it. A color scheme is fine to tell line rats from gutters as long as you are not using a roster of halfling figs to represent your rats. Like wise you would need a rat ogre fig to have a rat ogre on your team. It does not mean you have to be using official GW figs by any stretch. It just means that a fig should be able to be easily and quickly identified by your opponent as a representation of it's position.

Brian-
Quick question...how do you plan on resolving ties in the standings? What is the oreder of the tie breakers? (Assuming that there are multiple tiebreakers.)

Members of the tied teams will have to mud wrestle for the title. Bring your NAF thong Laughing

That's a good question though. I hadn't really thought about it. I'll have to think about it and get back to you on that.

As previously reported, Boston is down to 3 likely players. We can offer seats to make a regional NE team. And we are a port city, so we can connect pretty far and wide Smile

Any word yet on lodging?

Cheers,
Maureen

there's a harrisburg team too.

so I think:
Philly, DC, Canada, Harrisburg are in.

I think Boston should combine with NY and believe we can have a "Ronin" team with extra people

I just realized I said which hotel but didn't give info about the hotel.

The best hotel is the Holiday Inn Express.

The web site is http://www.hieexton.com/.

It's about $97 a night for 1 room.
