I have read before that Vampire, Ogre, Goblin, and Halfling teams are considered tier 3 teams.
I was just curious how the rest of the teams are split up between tiers 1 and 2? |

the ones you win with are tier 1
the ones you lose with are tier 2
these four teams are tier three because no one but the BBRC themselves can win with.

That would mean Halflings have just been moved up to Tier 1, cause I'm not a member

I'd say
1st tier: Amazon, Norse, Wood Elves, Skaven, Undead, Necromantic, Chaos Dwarves
2nd tier: Humans, Orcs, Dwarves, High Elves, Dark Elves, Chaos, Nurgle, Khemri, Lizardmen, Pro Elves
In general 1st tier is considered more competitative, but this is open to interpretation, personal taste, discussion, and context (type of league / tournament) |

This is biased towards tournament play BTW. Tournament wins (according to TBB) for these tiers
1st: 63 (7 teams)
2nd: 43 (10 teams)
3rd: 2 (4 teams)
(TBB data also suggest that dwarves and orcs should be 1st tier and Amazon should be 2nd tier) |

Tournament rankings are not indicative of league performance though - which is where the tiers really come in. Generally all teams are tier 1 with the exception of Goblins, Ogres, Halflings, Vampires & Rotters. Rotters are probably the only tier 2 team with the others being tier 3.
Roughly speaking and average coach with a tier 1 team ought to have .450 to .550 records, tier 2 .350 to .450 and tier 3 worse than that. Those are just mental guidelines and aren't really formalised.
I think PBBL has pretty much removed the distinction between tiers 2 & 3 and rotters seem to be more of a tier 1 team now too. |
