How did Paul avoid the spoon? he was 0-5

the guy who won the spoon won 1 since he beat a DC guy in the first round...... Shocked

bad point scoring system Paul probably lost a bunch of close games!
therefore giving him more points than a guy with a win.

not "easy", but do-able. Points were 50 for win, 30 for tie, 20 for loss, 10 for +2 TD win, 10 for losing by one, 10 for +2 CAS inflicted.

coach #1 - 1W/4L/0t - 130pts
if he won by less than 2, lost every game by at least two scores, and didn't inflict +2 Cas, he wouldn't get any bonus points.

coach #2 - 0w/5L/0t - 100pts
but if this coach was close in most if not every game (+10 each game=50pts), and maybe even inflicted a ton of damage in most if not every game(+10 each game=50pts)...the total could be as high as 200pts.

well, now that the Cats out of the bag, I did go 0-5

I kept it close in four games and I had Casualties in another, giving me 150 points, throw in sportsmanship and stuff and it put me ahead of the other guy.

I can't remember the final point breakdowns, but if you loose 4 and tie 1 game, you can get 130 points if you don't keep it close/casualties etc.

Still, its no fun playing when you're down 6 guys in every game Sad

also I think 20pts for a loss is a bit much. 10pts works better.

50w/10l =60pts avail
30t/30t= 60 pts avail
minus all bonus pts of course Smile

Good try on defense though Smile

I think the tourney in general needed people. Unfortunately, Team Canada was dissolved due to having only 4 guys. But we 4 guys wouldn't have been able to make it either from adding more people, due to the expense of renting a gas guzzling van. Shocked Great thanks to Peter for offering to drive in his diesel volkswagon! He even drove the entire way, 9 hours... Surprised

Regardless, it was fun! A room full of good sportsmanship, good BB, and of course, it never hurts to have a bar across the street from the hotel (no cabs and no one has to drive!), and a saloon next door to the tourney location! Incentive to finish quicker!

I joined Team Philly, and to be honest don't know how all of them faired. Quiet bunch, not like team DC! Laughing We were in the thick of it all weekend though, and did quite well winning the semi's and losing a tiebreaker to DC in the final.

On day 1 I beat an orc team (can't remember his NAF name), then lost by 1 TD to Skummy's rats. I couldn't break his armour with my lizards, and he tied me up well, leaving my skinks to deal with the gutter runners. Thats not gonna happen... Razz Game 3 was against BB Babe, my first ever vs. Zons with my Lizards. I think I won that one 2-0, though the blocking wars were uneffective by both of us casualty wise, my KOs were crucial for taking over numerical advantage during sweltering heat. She had trouble facing my strength, and I ended up moving her D around with a ton of pushbacks.

Day 2 I faced a non-NAF coach playing dwarves, and after kicking to him, I held him back at center field most of the half, but he scored by the end of the half. Second half I scored in 3 or 4 turns, going for the win and not the tie. I then kicked to him, and thru solid D (swarming the dwarf runner with 3 tacklezones, 2 saurii & a skink!) I managed to take the ball again, and worked a skink down to the end zone line, ready to score the go ahead TD in the next turn when Brian called 'times up!' Curses, a tie!! Crying or Very sad

In my final game, I played gken1, kicking to him. I swarmed his hobgob in the backfield early, eventually stealing the ball for a TD. Kicked to him again, and scored again to go up 2-0 at the half. I really took advantage of his errors, some of them forced, some of them due to Lady Luck being a b!+(#. He had a chance in the second with a successful long bomb pass to the bull centaur, but dropped the catch.

I wish I could have averaged out the good luck vs gken1 and the bad I had with Skummy, but thems the breaks. I'd love to play against all these coaches again, provided their dice are legal. Laughing

Thanks for a well run tourney, Brian! And Jay, thanks for your organizing, your suggestions for hotels, bars, and everything Exton are appreciated!

Hope to see everyone at Qermitt, Death Bowl, or the next Canadian Open!
