LRB 4.0 is the only rules I'll play from now on. If anyone decides to be a pioneer & does the new rules at thier tourney, then that is a touney I'll not attend.

Rod.

Spazz

Please make it LRB 5 so Rod doesn't attend. Here's your opportunity. Smile

Now I know I'm not going this year anyway but I wouldn't be attending either if it were LRB5.0 nor will I be attending any 5.0 tournaments in the future. I can also venture to state that there would be no MTL coaches attending a 5.0 event. At least not from my group and I'm fairly certain Steve's group feels the same way.

Well if people are going to be that opposed to an LRB 5.0 tournament, then it will not be something that I will be adopting. I run the tournament to encourage people to come and to have a good time, if the ruleset is going to be that much of a deterrent, then it is a non-issue.

Looks like someone voted Brian and Steve in as Spokesmen for the Province of Quebec.

Nice work guys...Congrats!

Spazz-
In my opinion, you will have people who feel strongly about this from both sides of the fence...it won't do you any good to try to appease both. Make a decision on the tourney that you want to run, and go from there. It won't guarentee better attendence either way.

-Rob

P.S. Besides...the only two votes against LRB5 are coming from people who weren't coming anyway. Changing to suite them might alienate those who were already committed to attending. (Then again it might not...just my 2 cents.)

It's a tough job but someone has to do it.

Rob,

I appreciate what you are saying and can understand that as the old sasying goes "you cannot please all of the people all of the time".

However, Rod is coming to my tournament, and Brian has expressed his disappointment at not being able to come, but I can probably count on his support in the future. As far as some of the other attendees ( alot of whom are TBBF) I do not picture any of them having anything more than a lukewarm support for LRB 5.0 rules (correct me if I'm wrong guys!)

Push come to shove I will have to evaluate the ruleset decision based upon:

1) Number of coaches who would or would not attend

2) Who those coaches are. Because let's face it, I am not going to alienate my friends just to get a couple more people at the tourney.

Yeah I've heard a whole lot of "man that tournament scene sucks under 4.0 I can't wait to use the untested and broken 5.0 rules" Rolling Eyes

Just because people don't launch their own "Pro LRB5" Websites doesn't mean that there aren't people who are anxious for the new game. Brian...you have your opinion, and others have their opinion...simple as that. As an independant TO, Spazz should do what's best for him and his dedicated area players. MTL just needs to get over itself.

well, as a TBBF guy, I say I should probably read LRB 5 to see what the fuss is about.

For me, the rule set doesn't matter so much. Just having a tournament is good enough for me to go (and well, the drinking on saturday night)

Honestly I"m not a huge fan of LRB 5 from what I've read (along time ago) and heard, I don't see the need for it as LRB 4 works ok in my books. But if you're going to run a tournament with LRB 5 rules, I wouldn't not go just because of that.

TBB. Specialist games. blood-bowl.net. Impact miniatures. and on and on. No Rob there's not a single pro-vault crap site. Still no where have I seen a "woohoo bring on the tourney 5.0 scene". It's all wait and see attitude. Everyone waiting for someone else to dive one the blade. I agree that Craig should do what's best for him. If he goes with 5.0 I wish him the best of luck.

Oh and Rob if you want to talk about a city that has a tournament scene that needs to get over itself you might want to look a little closer to your own back yard!

But Spazz has posted what he feels is best for him, & that is go with the 4.0, I think if anyone needs to get over themselves its you SPOONMAN! Laughing

Brian has an opinion that he has expessesed & your bashing him for it.... So he has his own website & he's anti LRB 5.0, what does his opinion & his website have to do with each other?

I'm sure his website was not created just to badmouth the LRB 5.0! I'll do that without a website created.

It does not matter what the people want (4.0 or 5.0) it's up to the T.O. & if you the player attending the tourney doesn't like the set rules, then don't go, it's not that difficult to grasp people!

I just don't think Brian's website should be insulted just because of his opinions!

(& you say I hit below the belt Rolling Eyes )

Maybe someone should plan an over-priced, poorly planned event in MTL in September...then perhaps your turnout will be negatively impacted as well.

At least our attendees got something for their money.

Maybe YOU should get over YOURSELF and refund the money you charged for your half-baked team tourney. Once the World Cup was announced, you dropped off of the face of the earth for the NA Cup...and it showed.

I'm not bashing him...I was just telling Craig that he should just do waht he feels is right for himself. Brian is the one who is grandstanding.

My comment regarding MTL was in response to this
      Quote:

Now I know I'm not going this year anyway but I wouldn't be attending either if it were LRB5.0 nor will I be attending any 5.0 tournaments in the future. EDIT: I am not insulting Brian's website. I am also not going to get drwan further into having to defend myself. Brian is clearly in one court...and that is fine...I am just saying that there are alternate opinions that should be considered. He apparently does not seem to think that there is anything worthwhile outside of LRB 4...and that's fine too...it's his opinion. I just doesn't mean it's gospel.

EDIT2: I am really bothered by this...where have I bashed Brian's website. Seriously...Brian you are the one taking cheap shots. This is really uncool especiall when you consider that as a NAF Staff Member...I am one of the people that you are supposed to support....not tear down.

Laughing The really funny thing is that I wasn't talking about your event Rob. I was talking about the NWC. I'm not going to hijack Craigs thread anymore so if you've got something to say go ahead and PM me.
