Next one is Death Bowl unless Ben runs his in September.
was refering to Ben as DB is probably out for me right now due to timing.
Death bowl is a slight maybe...it's right around when I leave so may not be possible---plus I don't like the Riot rule.....hate driving 10+ hours to lose 3 turns of a game to one dice roll and basically the game---which happened to me last DB. |

The "button" has been pushed! All the results are in and registered. To anticipate the question, Addam and Chris have been inducted in to the ranks of NAF and all their games have been entered for consideration.
So it took me a grand total of two days to get the results in, with six kids a major lanscaping project going on and extra-curricular activities..... |

How come Chris or Adam does not show up in the rankings?

Leave it to you to make problems, eh?
I don't know what is up with them - but whatever it is, it is out of my hands. I entered them like I did everyone else, but where I entered the rankings their real names did not show up like everybody else's did. I am guessing that is why their rankings are not in yet. |

Oops! Thanks Eric. I guess we posted at exactly the same time.
Hey, thanks again for the 16-sided die! You're the man!
No problem at all, I already have one and we'll consider that your prize for wining the rubber match.
Oh and BTW, after you ragged on me all weekend about beating me 6-0 I check it out and it was only 4-0. Does not really change much, though my only solice it that I am still ranked higher than you |

Got the word from Brian - they need to log onto NAF and enter their real names. Once they do that, then they will show up. Otherwise it is out of my hands. |

Well I try not to be too judgemental of people (except for mooching backstabbers ) but now that I have done the tourney results for mine and seen how easy it is to do, I really think that any of these TOs have little to no excuse for getting the results in within a week or two. |

That's the quick and dirty of it, if interested (and when I have more time) I can post other stats.

I added each teams record plus two point totals (1st one using a scoring system of 3 points for a win, 1 point for a tie) & (2nd using 2 points for a win & 1 point for a tie)
Just seeing how this would affect standings (trying to experiment with alternate scoring systems.... )

Every since I have been a member of NAF, I have been rather outspoken about how much I dislike the scoring system used by tournaments. Scoring systems that give poiints for painting, casualties, sportsmanship, etc. are ridiculous, and borderline childish. If you want to assess those parts of the game/hobby, then use them towards special awards like Best Painted, Most Casualties, and Sportsmanship -- NOT towards the score that determines the champion (or rankings).
Even the "Keeping it Close" bonus is a bit silly, although it reminds me slightly of the Overtime Loss point in hockey...
Can you think of any other sport/game that uses such a system to determine a champion? Even chess tournaments (which famously use a Swiss-style system) don't. And YES, I DO know that BloodBowl is a game played with little men on fake fields, and not a real sport -- I have heard it all before.
Hey, why don't we start assigning points for other things: Best dressed coach, bonus points for Dwarf teams, most TDs in the last 4 turns of the second half, most casualties from blocks from players that have red gloves. These are all good ideas, right?
I *know* that I am not a good player, but I still had a 2-0-4 record, tied with 2 other people, but Rod's score was 29% higher than mine (and Dave's). Where is the reason in that. Don't get me wrong, Rod is a better player than me, and he did beat me, but we are STILL BOTH 2-0-4!
When I ranted about this before, I was told to "go and run my own tournament" -- so I did. And the scoring system Rod suggested above (3-1-0 points) works just fine.
Stop the sucky-baby cutsy-wootsy point system and make the GAME be about winning the game. All of that other stuff is extra. |
