Gentlemen, it was truly a pleasure to make your aquaintances. I had a fantastic time (even with my terrible record) Other than casualties you had terrible luck on the field. I ended up winning 2-1, but damn it, it was the luckiest game that I've ever had.
Fat Bast ard was dodging on 5+'s, rolling knock downs and picking up balls from 3 enemy tackle zones. He scored twice, once with 5 of my guys to 11 of Rods on the field. It was crazy.
Unfortunately that luck didn't carry to my other games.
Double Kermits. Double 6's. Thats what was consistently thrown against my guys. Glenn rolled at least 9 of them against me for injuries during our game. Rod put out 3 of my guys for the game in the first turn!
But in the end I had the opportunity to play against some quality players and use some of the best looking boards out there.
I had a great time at my first tourny, and doubt that it will be the last. |

Hmmm now you've got me thinking. Most td's in the last 4 turns of the second half by a lineman with pink gloves and a purple helmet has gotta be worth some points
garth wrote: Stop the sucky-baby cutsy-wootsy point system and make the GAME be about winning the game. All of that other stuff is extra.
Not to hijack Craigs thread..... I say as I continue typing anyway
You compared the points system to Chess. Chess is often taken rather seriously. I don't often hear about chess buddies hanging out and getting drunk after day one of a tournament. I don't believe all that other stuff is actually extra. It is what makes the game unique and interesting. If all I was concerned about was shoing up and winning games I'd be played a CCG like Magic, not BB. The tourney scene has not grown inspite of the lack of serious rankings and strict rules, it's grown because of it. Anyay this could get into a long drawn out discussion but at the end of the day it all comes down to this. Yes the 3 point system you use at Carnage in the Capitol works. There are a lot of systems that could work. It all comes down to what type of atmosphere we're looking to create with the system used. Do we want to be super serious win at all cost and screw my opponent or do we want to have a few laughs, a few good drinks and a few great games of Blood Bowl. |

I am with Garth on this one. Ever since I started in tournaments I have never liked the scoring system. Especially when it is aspoused to be a Swiss System. Swiss System is supposed to based solely on win-loss record. The current system workes better for a Round Robin style of play with the largest accumilated points being the winner.
A good example of the oddity of this system is results of this tourny Adam (1-0-5) placed higher than both Dave and Garth (2-0-4). Why? Most likely having an Orc team that was able to 'keep it close' consistantly and causing alot more casulaties was the reason. I just feel that the system tends to benifit bashy and high scoring teams by giving them extra points.
Yes, this is a game and that is why I'll still attend tournies (even LRB5 tournies) but so is scrabble, monopoly, mah jong, cribbage, etc. which tend to use the Swiss System in their tournies. |

Oh great..... another trophy for Ben!
Seriously Garth, Eric had been mentioning this to me and I will give it some serious looking into by the time Challenge of Q'ermitt III rolls around.
But if you want other TOs other than myself to start paying more attention to this I would suggest starting your own thread in the "Hosting Tournaments" section. |

Yeah, I know; it fit with what Rod was talking about (alternative scoring systems).
I won't bother doing the new thread -- nobody listens to me anyway... |

I am starting to get the planning in motion for the pitch(es) for next year. If there is a race that is not yet represented by one of my pitches, then you can vote to see it done! Official voting will be on the Q'ermitt website, or I guess you could just le t me know here.

Dwarf and Human Spazz
I think those were the two most common races at the tourney this year but there was no pitch for either of them to play on. |

Human, definately. You and I talked about it briefly. I am planning to build one for my tournament. |
