How far would you go for, let's say, a BB-tounrey with a price money of 5.000 EUR for 1st place? |

Well, I already plan to travel 2.000 Kms (see, we Americans can do the metre thing!) to play, pay my own way, with not a farthing as prize money. I will probably use the European BB tourneys as an excuse to return (fond graduate school memories . . .) over the next year or so. A cash incentive is fuel to the fire. |

Surely 5.000 € are a very good incentive... but I'm too new to BloodBowl to also think at the victory, so I wouldn't certanly move just for the prize. Sunday I made my first one-day Tournament... but it was just 40 minutes far by my house...not a long trip
With BB I think that nobody can be sure of winning [Nuffle power is too powerful... and the dices follows, sadly, his words ]... so it's not the prize that make people move... it's just the possibility to have fun..meet persons with your same passion and learn new tactics...
Or do I have a wrong idea |

???5000 I didn't realise there was that sort of money in BB.
Any other prizes? And what's the entry fee? If its ???1000 I'm not coming. |

No, Aramil, you've the right idea. Just the thought though of money to spend on a post tourney party is great Hmm, I wonder if there would develop a mercenary/professional class of coaches, traveling from continent to continent for their pay, the penultimate BB coach... sigh, and I thought others had the perfect job! |

Sounds great, but it does kind of destroy the whole 'friendly competion' angle of it if there are players there mainly for the cash...
I know they have to be hardcore BloodBowlers to even know about it but I think if there are any prizes at all surely it should be in the hobby arena such as specially sculpted players/coaching staff/coins/trophies/signed rulebooks or something like that.
Just an idea.... |

Well, being European, I would travel a maximum of 1.000 KM for a tourney.
But if I knew their would be a 1.000 dollar/pound/euro grand price.....
....I wouldn't go.

A grand price in cash would be a very good reason not to go for me too!
I'm going to France nest weekend, and would be willing to go to Danmark, Germany UK Belgium Luxembourg etc; 1000km absolute max, but cost can be a limitation as well

...that most of you think, that a grand [money] price would spoil the fun. I didn't think of that before, but you're right. Most people become very "strange" when it comes to winning money. But what about, let's say, some vouchers for your local hobby supply for ~20 EUR? |

I think it would be better to try to get hold of some cool 'Bloodbowl merchandise' instead. Maybe some rare / discontinued mini's or a specially made trophy...
I'm going to start a league in Worcester as soon as the GW Battle Bunker opens (it's been delayed but it IS going to open at some point!) and I was thinking of having a 'Bloodbowl in Worcester' coin cast up for the tournaments we will run and try to get a little trophy sorted as well. Still costs money but you are in it for the prestige of winning, not the cash! |
