Also ... I have to ask ... why are you using the same rules that got slammed so very badly when used at the Blood Bowl tournament in the UK? The Star Player abuse at the Blood Bowl turned off a lot of players ... just wondered why you were setting up for the same compliants.
If I'm allowed to ask. Just hate to see your touranment owned by Star Players like the Blood Bowl was.

Beats the heck out of me. I'm just posting it so people know. I'm not the organizer, nor do I know the person who is. |

Okay ... the story I got was JJ asked a room full of folks and got a resounding "the stars were bad" vote. ... I took that as a slam ... I apologize if I overstated as I was not there.
But they weren't really liked, but the Chaos Cup and the Carolina tournament are both using them. I guess it just surprises that the information cannot be used in real time to adjust the rules.

Well yeah he did get a room full of people saying no, but then again he did the year before too
I would prefer them not to be used at tourneys, mostly because there aren't comparable stars for all races. |

Chet and I thought that full price by not cutting the cost in 1/2 over 100k that stars get and by not allowing them team rerolls ... helps to level the field quite a bit.
Although if Stars still rule the tournament ... I think I'll be quick to agree that next years GenCon will have no stars.

I've found in rolling up a variety of possible teams for GenCon that the SP modification that Tom/Chet included forces careful contemplation of not only style but short term team building. As I discovered in the test play, the loss of a SP and a blitzer could hurt you if your team cannot change tactics. My take is that GW sees it as not in their best interest to reduce the participation of SPs in its tournaments and the tension between long-time league players (who build their own SPs) and this reality will always exist.
Anthony's point about SP imbalance among races is another great reason to leave them at tourney-time.

Yeah, I think the imbalance between races SP's (or lack thereof) helped cause some of the resounding "no's" at the BB. Perhaps if all races had SP of a similar level (though obviously not the same) they would be liked better at the BB (though I'd still perfer no SP's at all. |
