Cheers Woody.
I guess this means that team members can be drawn against eachother on Friday too?
I appreciate this won't affect the team scores but it does seem a bit counter-intuitive. |

so is it a problem to registert in the middle of july ?
because i read in the german forum that the teams have to be pr-registerd until end of june. i´m not able to say if i can join until end of june :-/
or did i unterstand something wrong ? |

Am I correct in assuming that team mates can play eachother on Friday?
Also, can you play the same opponent twice over the course of the tourney i.e. if you meet him/her on Friday in the individual event and then on Sat/Sun in the team event?
Cheers,
Brendan |

I believe, Pippy, we should be able to avoid such scenarios... there will be plenty of coaches to play besides those from your own team. The weekend scenario will be slightly more problematic but should not be difficult to avoid, although this may become more of an issue should the the top ranks of teams and players converge.... |

Jim - I'm not really sure what you are saying. Do you want to be able to stop potential team mates playing each other on the Friday? Since that doesn't impact team scores - just individual ones I don't really see the necessity. There is also only about a 5% chance of this happening with a random draw anyway - so the level of incidence can be dealt with manually if required. |

Only because I have heard the complaint overseas time and again: "oh, man, I travelled all this way to play my neighbor? I coulda' done that at home..." I'm not certain that I feel it's hugely important, especially on the weekend, but for the Friday I should think to avoid it if possible...
"Potential" teammates is another matter... if there are individuals in the open phase who end up on the same team, this might not be possible to avoid....
I was addressing whether "existing" teammates, who come to the World Cup as an established team, should have the possibility of playing one another.... |

If there's going to be an "overall" singles winner, the singles rounds shouldn't be fudged just to avoid teammmates facing each other (imo of course ). |

I think I agree. You could put together an elite team - giving each member a better chance of individual victory since they would never have to play each other (probably Pippy's cunning plan). I'm sure he'll try the Lemsip gambit too! |

Ah, you rumbled me
No just asking a question to which I didn't know the answer!
I agree with Darkson and Doubleskulls. Friday is individual only so team allegiances should not prevent opponents playing each other IMO. |

Fairly argued - you've convinced me, for one! But no cryin' on Friday night because your best mate just put you out of contention for a medal....! |

If there is an individual winner and a team winner does that mean they could be team most casualties and most tds? Just an idea |

It is an idea. I would hate to stress the admins even more though! Although I am sure that could be done.
I was thinking about this.... there are going to be about 140 results entered for every round. We will have about 30 mins/maybe 45 to process all that and even if 4 of us are dedicated to just that and we allow 45 seconds per result entry (we have to ruthlessly check them etc) we still have 30 mins or so just entering results.
It is not downside - just a consideration, that one of things about such an huge tournamant is the administration required. We are are relying on 4-6 people to a) have laptops, b) we have the capability to build a network and c) GW can give us the required extras we might need.
As long as the requests dont mount up to high I am sure some things like that could be done Hangus. |

If we're using Score! at the WC, perhaps ask Joris if it's possible to code in team scores as well? That way, the results would only need to be input once, and both single and team scores can be posted each round.
No idea if it's possible or not, but if he's asked now... |
