In answer to your question eric I refer you to the huge font, bold and italics section of the scoring rules above!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Quote:
At the end of the tournament, the average sportsmanship score a player received will be added to their total.

Would it not be: 6 games ?? 3 Points/Game Max = 18 Pts. ? or 12 Pts. @ 2 Points/Game.
That would make a Max of 35 Pts @ maximun Sportsmanship or 29 Pts. @ average Sportsmanship?
Ok, sorry I was bitchy before.
The AVERAGE sportsmanship score is added at the end.
2 points is the score you give someone if they are a good sport.
This is the default and what pretty much all of your scores should be.
3 points is if they are the best you ever played.
1 point is what you give someone if it was a bad experience, losing does not count as a bad experience!!!
0 points is if they were an asshole and you would rather stick pins in your eyes than play them again. |

the only problem i see with this is, you'll probably have a huge tie with a bunch at 12 points

U r right, I never saw the bold font. But does that not make Sportmanship less important than painting/etc. of the models? Or am I missing something else that is written in bold text?
i.e. ±1 point of sportmanship only effects the final score by ±0.17 and only effects the final score by ±1 if the opponant was an Awsome Player (i.e. all 3's) or a Bitchy Player (i.e. all 1's). In the end the average score for sportmanship for all participants will probably lie within 2 ± 0.17.
PS: Don't take this as trying to put down your tourny or the system you are using, or else I would not be comming out. |

It means that sportsmanship is worth probably 2 points which is a bit less than painting.
whilst painting is worth probably 2.5 points for most people as its likely they will miss one of the 0.5 point categories as all the models need to conform to the descriptions to get the points. A lot of people will not number front and back for instance and a bunch of people will not have a conversion etc etc |

Do you mean for best sportsman?
Probably be a lot of ties, but I expect a few 3s to get given out so don't worry I reckon we will end up with a winner somehow, even if it comes down to a vote of some sort. |

What I'd suggest is if lets say you end up with 9 people tied at end with sportsmanship scores, You ask everyone to vote for 3 of them with a 1 a 2 & a 3..... (after all the votes you add up the scores) if still tied, let the tourney organiser pick someone...

Sounds reasonable. We'll do something like that. Fingers crossed we don't need to and fates smile upon us |

Another way I have seen in the past, is after all the games have been played everyone votes for one of the players they have played against. That person represents the best sportsman out of all they played against during the weekend. Each vote you receive would give you ?? bonus points. |

yeah could do.that too. Maybe we will. That way we can have the current system in place to stop people being really grumpy. But also this voting to help decide the best sportsman. The votes will not affect the tournament standings just the most sporting award.
sounds good cheers for the help lads!

We were playing two minute turns at Ben's the other night - was a lot of fun! Four minutes will seem like forever now! |
