Hi all,
Started an Ogre team, just for fun - think I made a mistake by only taking 4 Ogres, bunch of Snots and 3RR - after a couple of games I'm thinking 6 Ogres, 7 Snots and sundry other stuff might have been better
Any comments? What's 'worked' for you guys?
While I am just playing them for fun, I'd like to at least think they could score a TD every once in a while... lol

If you don't mind playing catchup, then prioritize RRs initially. Vital for bonehead rerolls (yay for no loner!). The ogre/snotling count isn't so important, and you can make do with 11 players total in your first game, if you don't mind losing your first three games. The rerolls are expensive and they can earn draws for you (only good defense earns you wins, unfortunately).
If I was starting another ogre team, I'd go 4 ogres, 4 RRs, 7 snots. Then I'd flip a coin and get either 2FF or another snotling. |

Oh, and hope for 58 on the casualty table for your snots. Nothing hurts the opposition more than rolling the second-best result and then you saying "oh goody, no effect". |

Developing an ogre team, won my last two games 2-0 (v lizzies) and 3-0 (v Norse). So it can be done! Started with 4 ogres, 3 rerolls, then snots to fill up the rest. Apo should be first purchase, as replacing ogres is expensive.
Break Tackle on the ogres asap, and hug the touchline when you have the ball to create an effective cage. Plus a bit of TTM never hurts, especially as it doesn't cause a turnover. Use it to get snots into useful positions.
And good luck! |

Ah, but you're never sure which ogres are going to need to move to hit people, and ogres don't move fast, so the BT ogres can end up out of position. Stand Firm would be good near side lines - a snow troll was messing with me yesterday. |

I've heard SH before - if you get doubles on an ogre take Block. I never give the ball to an ogre, even with a touchback. Snotlings can pretty much score as soon as they get within 7 squares of an endzone, whereas ogres can get bogged down. |

At a minimum I like to have 2 Ogres with Stand Firm. Then I put 4 Ogres on the LOS ...
F.G.G.F
F=Stand Firm ogre
G=Guard Ogre
. = empty space
Than I have my 2 Break Tackle ogres in the Wide Zones.

Great thing about BB is that strategies differ. This is mine. |

Agree completely. Once you've got 6 ogres on a team the starting ogres have probably got a few skills each anyway (Guard, SF, BT).
As UK's lowest ranked ogre coach (http://www.bloodbowl.net/index.php?module=NAF&type=tournamentinfo&uname=sann0638) I'm in no position to preach anyway (though I have won tourney games that weren't NAF ranked).
Cheers,
Mike |

Hi folks,
It's been a while and I finally scored in my 3rd game and even won my 4th one...
Getting the hang of dodging lots of snots to ridiculous places on a 2+
Thanks for all the tips - RR is a priority, but have been replacing snots to keep numbers up - on reflection oculd probably have managed with journey-snots (ew!)

I'm gearing up to play Ogres this coming League Season.
Having Coaches and Cheerleaders with the way LRB5, makes them huge on the Kick Off Table...
I'm thinking more Rerolls there... |

Yup - have noticed with a couple of other newish teams that having one or two cheerleaders & coaches gets me at least 1 RR per game - often one per half - even if it's a shared one (i.e. it helped make a tie rather than my opponent getting one and me not)
