What would be a good starting team for Chaos Dwarfs?

2x bull centaur
6x CD
3x Hobbo
3 RR
xFF

I think this fits in a TR 100 team.
Not that sure. Take 2 BC's !!!!

I already suspected that having 2 Bull Centaurs would be cool (mainly because I love bull centaurs for some strange reason...)
But only 11 players? Can they handle that?

I would go with:
2 BC
4 CD
5 H
4 RR
6 FF

Sounds good to me , the extra re-rolls help score and the high movemnet BC can make fast teams work really hard.

Are you looking for a tournament team, or a league team? I'd start CD's completely different if I was playing for the long term.

For a LT team I used:
110k Minotaur
130k BC
350k CDx5
160k Hx4
150k RRx3
90k FF=9
10k Treasury
------
1,000,000

In retrospect, I would consider 2 BC's and FF 8 a better option, but the mino I had painted came out so cool that I had to use him Twisted Evil

11 players worked out ok to start as so many have thick skull. My 1st priority was to buy an apothecary and then the 6th CD and some extra Hobgob's.

That all depends on the conditions you're playing in: a tournament, a league (with mostly agile opponents or hard hitting teams?).

Personally, I see two ways to play it:

The safe way:
6 chaos dwarves
6 hobgoblins
4 rerolls
9 fan factor points
1 apothecary.

Four rerolls and 6 players with block will substantially protect you against streaks of bad luck. If you position well your CDs, you should be able to hold on against strength 4 players WITHOUT block.
You can always buy your bull centaurs afterwards - 9 ff should help you bring money in.

The aggressive way:

2 bull centaurs
6 chaos dwarves
4 hobgoblins
3 rerolls
1 ff

that tactic will give you additional strength and allow you to blitz at will.
I would not advise you to go for only one bull centaur as your opponent can just focus on bringing him down (easy since he does not have block) and therefore incapacitate your team more than if you had two of them in my opinion.

My favourite roster remains the first and 'safe' one, but then it again all depends on your style of play and your opponents.
I guess that the aggressive set up would work more in tournaments since you cannot buy new players as the game goes, and bull centaurs do give an edge to CDs and it is therefore a pity not to include them in a team when you won't have any other occasion to buy some (unlike in a league...).
I would add more safety for a tournament by toning down the 'aggressive' set up:
2 BCs
5 CDs
5 HGs
3 RRs
4 FF

I like this one JJB !

I started mine like this :

6 CD
8 Hobboes
4 RR
6 FF

I was very afraid of AV 7, so I wanted a lot of guys available. Starting again, I would drop one Hobbo for 9 FF and 10 K treasury.

You cash in and buy the apoth and the 2 BC, then transform 1 or 2 Hobboes into assistant coaches to make room for a big guy if you want one.

I hate starting with 11 players unless I'm playing Orcs. (And even then!) So I'd suggest something like this:

2 BCs (260K)
4 CDBs (280K)
6 HGs (240K)
3 TRRs (150K)
7 FF (70K)

Your next few purchases are an Apothecary and some role players as fast as you can afford them. You'll max out quickly. Grab a Troll later. He makes good line fodder, he's cheap, and he doesn't flake out when stumped next to a Treeman.

For a while now, I've wanted to try out a hyperagressive roster:

100 k Troll
260 k 2 BC's
210 k 3 CD Blockers
200 k 5 Hobgoblins
7 FF
3 RR

If you don't have any of your 9 AV players die in the first game, you're pretty well set to be competitive from the start.

Wow, that's an agressive one all right. I think the low number of CD's could hurt you. Block and Tackle are clutch early on.

I find Tackle to be a better middle and late skill than a starting one. With this setup, you'd get an Apoth first, and then go for the Dwarves, who are good from the get-go.

Chaos dwarves have such a variety of players available that most set ups could work with them. It's all about the conditions in which the coach is playing.
- what are yours Squiggoth??

I still haven't got any idea, so I guess I'll just go for the Cool To Paint line-up which contains 2 Bull centaurs and a lot of Hobgoblins, and perhaps a minotaur Cool
(besides, converting Chaos Dwarf linemen from Chaos Dwarf warriors is quite tricky with their axes obscuring much of the detail...)
