I beat them last night with my Dwarfs by using a very shamefull tactic: Gaining the ball, running up to the endzone and then staying there while battering the enemy players so that I can win near the end of the half giving my opponant not enough time to score....
I know, outragious and not in the spirit of the game really. All I can say in my defence was that my opponant used effectively the same tactics with a little git of a skink in our last game. By speeding off with the ball so he hade at least a 7 square lead on my Longbeards, he simply kept hitting me with strength 4 blocks until he got bored and scored....

Fight fir with fire is my line and I'm sticking to it!!

I see no problem with that tactic, if you'r opponent doesn't like the fact that your ball carrier is standing near his end zone he should go over there and smack the git's face in. That way he'll be forced to score Idea

We've been over that thread before. My advice to any coach is simple: if you CAN score, then score. Sure, beat on guys during that turn, and move player to protect against the humor of Nuffle, but by all means score. Not only is it 3 SPPs, but it's good sportsmanship.

And if you don't...well, you may rue the lost chance. My Chaos Pact team just escaped with a 2-1 win over our Norse entry. He had a clear path to the end zone in the third turn of the second half of a tied game. He passed it up, explaining later that he felt he could defend me for five turns better than he could for six.

On that drive:

1. His Thrower grabbed the ball and tossed it to a Blitzer with Stand Firm.
2. Said Blitzer ran down the field escorted by three players, perched along the sideline.
3. In my first turn, I used Multiple Block to push two players around and generally get in his way.
4. On his second turn, he pushed some players back to clear space.
5. On my second turn, my attempt to strip the ball failed on a double-down result. My lineman then dodged away to help elsewhere, leaving the path open.
6. On his third turn, he willfully passed up the opportunity to score even though the pressure was on.
7. On my third turn, my Strip Ball player rolled an explosion. The ball went OOB and ended up in the hands of my ST4-Block Beastman.
8. On his fourth turn, he unsuccessfully hit the Beastman.
9. On my fourth turn, the Beastman dodged away and moved into a small cage-like formation.
10. On his fifth turn, he pushed the Beastman on a Blitz, after which his Troll nailed the Beastman, followed up, and caught the ball.
11. On my fifth turn, my OTHER Beastman one-died the Troll and stunned him, after which an AG4 lineman grabbed the ball and ran downfield.
12. On his sixth turn, his Thrower made a dodge and a GFI, rolled an explosion, made another GFI, and grabbed the ball.
13. On my sixth turn, a lineman failed a critical GFI (even with a re-roll).
14. On his seventh turn, he ran up to throw a pass to the original Blitzer...at which point a nearby Pass Blocker made a dodge and picked off the ball.
15. On my seventh turn, said Pass Blocker tossed the ball downfield.
16. On his eighth turn, he failed a dodge that would have allowed him to blitz.
17. On my eighth turn, I scored the game-winning TD.

In my opinion, the Norse coach should have scored. He could have allowed a quick score and still had time to score the winner later, which would have been far better for his team.

So here's my advice: score when you can. You never know what might happen Smile

Sounds like he should have scored. Also sounds like he was never in the sort of strong position needed to sit on it, i.e. ball carrier by endzone, rest of team between him and opposition players in a double cage.
