Does anyone know if GW did the crap with the CRAP to put out an own new rulebook with some special edition or if they just wanted to "save their IP". |

Don't get your hopes up. GW did what they had to do to secure their intellectual property and get their copyrights through. The legal department was pretty hard on a lot of folks. This irritated a bunch of people but unfortunately it's just the business end of it. It doesn't mean that they couldn't put out a boxed set...I just don't think it's in the plan and don't believe the two things you mentioned are related.
Besides...Blood bowl does much better in the LRB form and if they make a new boxed set then they would have to jack up the rules on everyone to be cute and would inevitably screw up the finely polished game they have today.
What I would like to see, if they were going to spend the efforts on such a thing, would be a Special Edition LRB5/6(CRP) rule book and some new minis. That would be awesome. |

I've lost track of the number of business that I've found in the same industry or similar that work with their fans and volunteers to do exactly the things that GW shut them down. There was no IP issue or copyright protection ... its just that GW are a bunch of souless bastards that hate their fans and its a lot easier to C&D them then to work with them.
Just one of those comments I cannot allow to be made without rebuttal even this far out.
Want new minis ... go look at the 4 companies making quality new stuff every month for fantasy football.
Want a beautiful CRP rulebook ... look around at tournaments ... I've seen some great ones when I've been to tournaments lately that folks have done up for themselves that look better than the quality currently in the GW boxed set.
And now me and soapbox will leave.

Sooo...let me see if I understand this...and I'm asking here because my knowledge of the situation is limited to my interpretations of what to weed out of forum chatter that makes sense.
You're telling me that the whole excuse from GW for securing copyrights when they went on their rampage at the beginning of the year was simply more of a convenient excuse then the truth? What was the motivation in this case? Did they just not want to spend the extra time on a "specialist game" or was it perhaps a half-assed attempt to promote the new video game? Please fill me in if you know something because you seem bitter enough about the situation to be serious...and having 'Rulz Committee' in your forum profile leads me to believe you would be closer to the truth on the topic than most.
Actually - I just bought the mutating Ogre model from Gaspez Arts for my human team. That damn thing is a monster too...and I mean figuratively. I think it stands about a head taller then the Ripper Bolgrot fig.
This last idea about the rulebook is something I've toyed with. I just don't have the time for it. |

Well...I guess you would know something about it. I knew I had heard that profile name used somewhere else before. So I looked you up on the only other Blood Bowl site I'm really associated with...FUMBBL. Sure enough you had posted to a thread where I had been having an argument with another individual about LRB5&6 vs. LRB4. Your full name is listed there...it too sounded familiar to me. So I continued my PI work and went and pulled out my handy dandy LRB5 pre-hacked up version of the rules and VOILA!...you're in print. Right there in the rulebook as a prominant member of the commitee. Nice.
Having discovered that little piece of information I'm not going to harass you for details as I'm sure you've probably been over it a billion times and are likely sick of discussing it. If you would like to let me know what did happen with that mess or post a link to where the real story is written it would be much appreciated but I understand if you're tired of rehashing it. I just like to know the truth when presented the opportunity. |

Well...that was educational. I found a good thread on there that pretty much explained all the questions I had. Thanks for that.
Unbelievable really. I'm seriously tempted to ebay all of my 40k goods now. I'm not much of a forum troll to begin with so whatever tid bits of information I had before obviously were inadequat. Sheesh.
Sorry to hear what you had to go through with that Tom. |

The bitterness factor is pretty much gone .... just having someone say "it was just business" is about the only thing that sets me off (or my favourite from WarSeer "he had it coming" ... that one still works really good too).
