In our league we were discussing whether it is a fair system for fan factors.
Do FF's go too high in the present system or does the FF table with the -1 for each 10 FF keep everything in order.
What do other leagues do.
Is it fair for some teams to have a very large FF. I mean for example because Man Utd are so successful they get more fans without detriment.
Should succesful teams be punished further than the FF table. |

After each season, we take half of the fan factor over 10 and drop it. |

Does that not end up with all teams having a FF of around 15?
And lets face it a new team can start with a FF of 10 and be playing a team who has a great record, been around for years and only a FF of 15!!!
Which is a little unrealistic? Isn't it?
All of BB history indicates great teams remain great.
eg. Reikland Reavers, Dwarf Giants, Orcland Raiders, Gouged Eye, Skavenblight Scramblers
FF is an intergral part of the game and once it reaches approx 30 it will remain pretty static. Due to the new FF table which is balanced.
This will also give an advantage to new teams playing the teams with FF of 30+ and will therefore ensure good crowds and increased winnings which will aid team development. |

The league Melifaxis and I are in is only in season number one. He set it up that way so that coaches that decided to change teams after the first season wouldn't be at too big of a disadvantage. Down the road we will need to revisit it though. |

you may not take a ff over 9 if you start a team.
a team that had ff18 would get 14, not 15. A team with ff 12 would get 11, not 15 |

Once a league has been set up and teams reach FF's of 15+ all teams will eventually have a FF of the same value. Newer teams will still be at a disadvantage because of the skills gained by players.
The only time playing against a team with a huge FF will be a disadvantage will be if there is a pitch Invasion, but hey thems the breaks when you play a great team.
Oh and sorry about the Elfheim Eagles, Darkside Cowboys, Champions of Death, Galadreith Gladiators, Chaos All-Stars, The Marauders, Dwarf Warhammerers, Vynheim Valkyries and finally the Athelorn Avengers.
There I think I got everyone. |

it depends on how your league plays - we allow a limited transfer market system that lets teams sell players for exhorbitant fees (like in the english premiership ). Because of this our Fan Factor system works differently as teams need more money for transfers and other types of coaches etc.
Basically, we roll 2d6 and apply a set of modifiers based on the outcome of the game, and the relative difference in team ratings. If the score is less than half a teams existing FF it drops by 2, less than the existing FF it drops by 1, if it's the same it stays constant, more than the existing FF it goes up by 1 and if it's more than double the existing FF it goes up by 2.
i.e.
A team has FF 8 and is playing a team with equal TR. The final score is 3 - 2 in their favour (no CAS)
The winning coach rolls 2d6 and gets 7. Add +1 for winning, and add +1 for scoring 2 - 4 TDs gives a score of 9 so the FF goes up by one.
This system is good because it takes into account TR when playing. This means that fans expect a super team to beat a crap one, and if they dont they get dissatisfied, whereas a poor team may not be too badly affected if they suffer a small loss against a high TR team, and will probably reap the benefits of any win.
If anyone is interested they can mail me and I will send our league rules pack. |

ECBBL uses the -1 per 10 FF. It does mean FF rarely gets above the mid-teens. |

I thought the -1 for over 10 FF was standard? |

The reason the capping of FF is a good idea is that it means high TR get no money in - meaning they get worse so effectively capping TR. |

The top team in our league has a TR of 321 and a FF of 30, this enormous FF is largely due to them winning the Mithril Spike and gaining 6 FF plus 1 for the game, even with this colossal FF due to their high TR they are not getting much money and have to win every game by scoring twice AND getting two cas' AND win to even have a neutral FF modifier the chances are over a short period especially if players die that there TR and FF will start to decrease.
Here is the natural cap, also the lower ranked teams see this match as a chance to get much needed cash to start their teams off!!! |

The next two highest FF in our league are 21 and then 17. All teams have been going the same amount of time. |
