Does a player have to roll for Foul Appearance when they Foul. It says if you make a Block or if you make an attack that takes the place of a Block you have to roll Foul Appearance. Taking for granted that the player doing the foul is fouling a player with Foul Appearance of course. |

A foul is a foul action. It does not take the place of a block. I know you're looking for a second opinion from mine, though.
Please hurry, NAFers. QuietDominator is scheduled for quite a bit of fouling in about three hours. |

Gaixo is right, Foul Appearance only affects blocking/blitzing... |

The exact rule from the living rule book says:
Foul Appearance (Mutation)
The player's appearance is so horrible that any opposing player that wants to block a player (or use a special attack that takes the place of a block)..... So I don't think that is entirely correct Dwarfrunner. |

Foul Appearance does not affect a Foul
a) it is not taking place of a block (in any more way than a hand off)
b) the special attack mentioned is things like the B&C (well b&c is a block but...), Saw, Stab that say
"instead of making a block or a blitz do this" |

So I don't think that is entirely correct Dwarfrunner. Fouling is not a "special attack that takes the place of a block", it is an action in itself. See CRP pages 7 and 23 - it's a Foul Action. Nowhere does it say that a foul takes the place of a block an more than it says that a pass takes the place of a block - they are distinct actions. |

foul appearance only works if you are blocking the player, hypnotic gaze is used during a move action so FA has no bearing on hyp gaze |

So you can do a Hyp gaze and a block or blitz action in the same turn? Just thinking about it you would have to do the block or blitz first then the Hyp gaze but that is possible correct? |

I assume you mean as part of the same 'player action', to which the answer is No. Hypnotic Gaze can only be used at the end of a Move Action if you are blocking or blitzing then you would be using a Block Action or Blitz Action respectively. You can move as part of a Blitz Action but that doesn't make it a Move Action. |

OK let me make sure I have this correct. The only way an action can be considered to be in place of a Blitz or Block action is if it says that it is done in place of a Blitz or Block action? |

I think that interpretation is correct, AFAIK the only things that take the place of a block are stabbing or a chainsaw both of which have specific discussions on taking the place of a block or what happens in a blitz in their rules.
Both Hypno Gaze and Ball and Chain specifically say they are part of Move Actions and Ball and Chain even says it ignores Foul Apperance. |
