I like Indigo's idea of dark red and silver. Another question is how to seal them. Gloss vs. semi-gloss vs. matte, or matte with selected gloss applications to detail. |

I'll always go for a matt sealant with gloss only used for gems and the like.
I've tried gloss followed by matt but it never seems to look as good
I reckon some kind of protection will be needed since they are flying backwards and forwards across the Atlantic! |

Well, here's my spare change...
Colors: I like red and black, or red and purple (with gold trim). Red and silver may work, but the silver may clash with the pale vampire skin.
Sealants: I prefer using a matte sealant.
As for model, I'll take whatever I can get, although I'd prefer a vamp. |

Well, some people will knew me by now, as i did also one of the gobbos for the TBB Legacy Team 2003.
I will buy those Vampies anyway for my Web archive collection and these minis seems worth to be painted as fast as possible ...and i got some minis in waiting status ... so why not paint another one for this event ?
When the deadline will be later this year (31th of December ?), it will be great, as i´m converting a big Orcteam for the German GD end of August right now.
But, if there are to many new painters want to join, i can stay back, too.
Maybe this slayer girl will be out until then, too ? A hired freeboot killer for a vampy team playing against another vampy team... ?
Hm, just saw, my avatar dont blink here... have to change that here at NAF, too.

it's probably worth pointing out for people who may not know - this will involve some cash expense on your side. You'll receive the mini to be painted then you'll have to do it using all your own stuff, then post it away possibly to the USA at your own expense.
Just so you know |

I like the idea of red and purple or purple and gold for the colours. Anything with purple, as I have a bunch of purple paint laying around.
As for time frame, before the TBB '04 team is due, yes, but not TOO soon. I want to put in my best effort on this.

I just wondering, is there any reward from GW/Fanatics to paint a kind of promotion team like this for GW ? As i knew, there a no painted vampies right now. So the NAFs here will do the work of the ´heavy metal team ? Well, i think, they will paint the vampies, too. Hm, but, if i remember the painted new elves...
Or its again for the honor ? I read some very old WDs about the old Gamesdays. In the " old times " you got a quite a nice present ( GW items worth some BPs) if you won. If i visit the GD now i spent quite a lot for my showed object(s) and have to pay not little for entrance. And only the first three of each category will get a award ( trophy), but no more...
I´m just asking myself, if i´m alone with this thoughts. Dont missunderstand me, i like this hobby and i like the GWminis, but the last time i got the feeling, the company politics sucks my blood (money) stronger than before. (p.e. BB archive prices)

Wow! So many developments since I first signaled my interest!
It's great that Fanatic is taking part in this! I'm glad I'll be part of this project!
Here's my only complaint though: I can't convert! I'm just highly unsecure about it, and don't want to mess up! So what I can do is provide a regular human lineman (metal or plastic) or Count Luther. I am also willing to paint a thrall from Fanatic if there are enough of them. This is great!
Now, I need two things: find a camera to show you my work so you don't think I do total crap and find some time and some cash to attend a tourney so that we can both put faces on names!

I'm trying hard to get to the Chaos Cup for the same reason Fred. I think the wife is going to grant clearance (it's tough because I have a one year old - who is the best kid in the whole damn world!). Converting is fun, just start off doing it to some mini's you care nothing about. By a cheap, out of date regiment, or some bargain bin item at your local hobby store.
I REALLY like the idea of crimson worked into the armor. Also, for you BTVS fans, what do you think about making the vamps look a bit like The Master in coloration? I'm thinking really palid vamps, of course they could each be different too.
Traveller, I think the reward is that we get to paint em before everyone else and that one of us will walk away with the team
Squig, how exactly do you make a skeleton look slutty? |
