Taxal,
I didn't get a chance to check out your team roster on Saturday, but I'm kinda wondering what you took on your team? 6 Ogres, 5 Gobos 2 RR 1 FF or something else.
Kinda curious. |

Sorry the whole dice thing is cracking me up in REAMS of laughter on it, by all means post the poll so I can VOTE against my own dino dice!
What the heck would I be embarrassed about? Dice are always usable by other players....always willing to use other dice, and the seeing how streaky the blasted things get at times I wonder myself if they are loaded (When the sixes chain goes along) or broken completely! (when the 1's chain kicks in fiercely in many a tournie, boy does it balance out in the strangest of ways!)
It's why many a time I'm more then happy to use the other dice when either it's the rules or requested...by opponent OR me! So if he puts the poll out there he's going to have to make it an interesting choices of votes from experience. Loaded, Not-Loaded, Streaky, etc. Either way if anyone wants me to use other dice, and better still as has happened a few times wants to use them then by all means! (Means the curse of their streakiness can spread and contaiminate perfectly good dice... )
Though I still think the ceremonial dunking of the Dino Dice into a Pint of Guinness does do wonders.... |

But seriously, did the players at this thing remember the whole spirit of the whole thing and just plain have some glourious fun and laughs? Come on I howl when I get my Gobs a pounded in some the worst blow-outs in tournie history and shake my head when I argue the call turn one, get the coach ejected, and then they go on to play the most brilliant match versus a Dwarf team ever!
Love how Rod nailed on the head with just keeping at it for the love of team and the play. I remember how his record was with Skaven many a times and he started thinking of abandoning his loyal rats. (The notorious Lizards with zippers and rat tails sticking out comes to mind! ) Told him that day at the 1st Spike! after another 0-3 start to instead curse Nuffle and just have fun with them! Next thing you know the winning begins, it's not perfect, but it's all in the spirit of the game in the first place, to have a fun time no matter what the Heretic Nuffle thinks. Oh sure we hate when the dice go so wrong that it's not even a contest...that's the time to dig out the humour and laugh at the antics of a team going SO wrong. (And the bragging rights of the last 3 players on your team SOMEHOW pulling off that 1 TD to eliminate the shut out! )
This Spike! seems to have had an uncanning knack in bringing out a lot of the worst in many, what's wrong with it bringing out some of the best as well then? New friends and old sharing in the fun of a hobby they all enjoy together, where the heck is the problem with that? So it wasn't a monster bash like the 1st Spike!, and it isn't the always great popular time that Gencon bowl...which I'm sure any poll would say chould be the Chao Cup proper, has been year after year. I've had blasts going to a small tourny out here in the West and howling as I get the little green guys pounded into the turf... (Sometimes with my Troll's own help!)
To me that's what the game is all about. Just enjoying a good time with everyone and having fun. So maybe I lack that "little extra" hunger to win it all, so what? Maybe it's why I stick to Goblins so much... and the look on poor Clan Skaven when they pull ANOTHER win away from him each time is just too much fun to pass up? |

Hey I'm the 2006 SPIKE Champion!
This gives a whole new meaning to the phrase:
"Take it with a grain of salt."
P.S. I have won one Blood Bowl event...the 4-way Skaven DeathBowl match at last year's Gen Con. It wasn't NAF sanctioned, but the competition was gken1, Ben, and Jaylazer.
I am more upset about missing GenCon this year for that rematch than for the main tourney! Sorry Galak! |

Dave...I just want to throw in my two cents on the dice...the thing that bothered me most about those dice when we played at Spazz's tourney last year...was how fast you sweep them off the board.
I'm not going to go as far as saying that they are loaded or that you are cheating...but in the name of sportsmanship you really should really give your opponent a better look at the results rolled on these "unique" dice.

Paul,
6 Ogres
5 Gobbos
1 FF
1 Re-roll
used the same roster in Death Bowl last year and had 2W-1T-3L
so not to bad but man are they hard to play with. In tourney play they suck, but in league play once you get a couple of games under your belt they totally rock. All in all they are fun to play though in tourneys. Cause total havoc with 6 strength 5 players. ALL RIGHT!!!!!

I never even thought of that as an issue when everyone wants to get a timed event in! Hey anytime someone want's to know what the sides are and the colour coding for each result just ask, never harm in it. And when anyone asks that's exactly what's been done. The problem likely lies in that the TBBF are so used to the colours of Purple Good Red BAD! that it doesn't occur that once someone has seen them that it doesn't stick. And if the numbers start "rubbing" then I retire them for a different set. (As on set four now and about to retire those as they're starting to rub badly that now with doubt as to result don't want to use them.)
So if it was ever a perceived issue, speak up! How on earth am I going to be insulted if someone asks to let the die lie for a few extra seconds? Like the same thing with cocked dice on the pitch, establish early what a "flat" and "cocked" dice is between both opponents and it's a non-issue! (And I still blame the TBBF for sticking in my head the expression "Saved by the cock..." >shudder< )
Besides my best memory of our match is how you dunked the same 2 players 3 FRAKKING TIMES over the side and got my Ball 'n' Chain smashing into the pole! |

Nope its true, but to thier defence they were still waiting for thier block dice from NAF & did not own the game box set. So they made homemade dice.

Hmmm well that's odd. Someone should have mentioned it and I would have gladly spotted them a set of dice. All well what's done is done. On to Death Bowl 2006! |

Well, seeing as you were both the best and the worst of the hair club at the "Real Spike!" as you put it, then you can give yourself the haircut at the Deathbowl! I was just at the "Warm up", so I hardly think that that counts!
EDIT - I suppose if you want more special treatment, we could always get you a set of dino dice! |
