Hmmm, last time we played, didn't *I* beat YOU?... Chick-on-chick action... allright!.....
Sure did! Clan-Skaven will never let me forget that! But he was just beaten by me at the Deathbowl III, so if he wants to keep that up he just has to remember that he was beaten by the guy who was beaten by Garth!
We love ya man!
Actually come to think of it, I have been beaten by you, Billy and Lagerbottom. That makes three spoon winners that have handed me my ass!

P.S. Brian - put me down for the vote on four rounds on the first day - getting home at three in the morning makes getting up for work the day really tough! |

Agreed. That was one of those things that I didn't quite have time for. That'll get fixed for next year. |

Ben you only had 3 minute turns in OT. You guy's had been playing for almost 6 hours at that point. Time to speed up the game. I got the comment from a couple people that the whole DB round should have been with a three minute timer because it made it more intense.
The time issue is always a tricky one. Not just at the DB but at any tournament. I don't remember getting home before 2am after Q'ermitt
How long is too short or too long for a round of Blood Bowl? IMO 2 hours is too short. The majority of games will get called on time. 3 hours, break included is just about right. You need a break between games, if only to stretch your legs. The DB round needs 6 hours of time minimum, that's without a break . Even if we start that round at noon it will not be finished before 6pm at the earliest. Even if we run late on Saturday, if we start at 9 on Sunday we can't be finished before 7 PM. This year we finished about 8pm and that was only because some people showed up late Sunday morning. I'm open to suggestions but there are few of things that have to work.
-There must be 5 rounds before the DB round. 4 rounds is not enough to sort out the top players.
-Social activity Saturday night must not be curtailed. Running a 4th Game Saturday means we will not be out of there before 8pm probably 9pm and I and my crew won't be out of there till later than that.
-3 hours per round, break included. If we did 2 hours per round there would have only been one game that would have finished in round 1. |

The strict 3m rule in OT worked great in the Ratfest. We were snapping right along. A strict 4m in regulation would be good, maybe for all rounds not just the finals, to keep us on schedule.
Definitely need a break between games to shake out the legs and fluff up the brain cells.
Cheers,

I think if you put everyone on a timer it'd keep the whole tourney on schedule. plus it'd point out to some players how long they really do take.
Also, I really liked Over Time....I think my next tourney I'll have them play it too! |

Way to go Brian,
Another sweet time in Montreal.
I found the weekend to be very well organized and felt that the games moved along nicely. I do however agree that the turns should be timed, just to keep everyone on track.
As far as the kick off table some things should change for the BB7's round, like Riot and Throw a Rock, maybe in 7's the result should only stun instead of injury. Stunned in 7's is big your out for 2 turns out of 6. Out of the game with only 7-10 players is harsh.
Who am i kidding i had a great time and will be back again, even if nothing is changed.
P.S Sorry to BB_Babe for one of the nastiest alliances i have ever seen in DeathBowl you surely would have won if not for Clan-Skaven's evil genius. 3 skaven vs. Necro it really was RatFest.
Ratfest final 2-2-2-2, now thats a fun game of DB |

Actually my team never got Cas'd in the final round (at the end of the DB overtime I still had 11 rats on the field) I never scored a Cas though. (my Dirty Player did however put many Rats to rest! )

Oh, I know! And he started helping your Necro against me from the get go. I think we should vote him out of the Clan
But Rob, having come frm behind 2-2-1-0 at the start of overtime to tie it all up for the grandest RatFest, you really should change your zombie figs to zombie rats. Necro Butchers is an honorary Skaven team now
Cheers,
Mo |
