Okay since both Vamps and Ogres will be present as teams playing at GenCon (confirmed) ... I've made an appeal to the NAF to add them to the team rankings. The rules have been stable for sometime now and even the Vault it not talking about making hardly any material changes to the teams.
On a side note ... Jake just got me some extra special goodies to have as prizes for GenCon. 2 of the new Skaven Poisoned Dagger star player that is coming soon. And a Ressurection Gutter Runner and a Lizardman Cheerleader.
So Snots ... if you are still looking for the Cheerleader ... bring your checkbook ... or your Ogres better win it all so you have first dibs.

It's not a problem to get another room for the three days (Thurs-Fri-Sat) if everyone will be a bit more comfortable... just let me know! |

In an effort for as instant a gratification as I can give here are the results of the GenCon 2004.
Tournament Results:
http://www.blood-bowl.net/GenCon/GenCon2004_TournamentResults.htm
Race Results:
http://www.blood-bowl.net/GenCon/GenCon2004_RaceResults.htm
Couple interesting notes:
1) The 2nd place Chaos Dwarf team had no Bull Centaurs
2) Wolfgang's 1st place Undead team took Tackle on 2 Wights after his first game for skills and then never played a team with Dodge (in effect handicapping himself by 2 skills for the tournament)
3) The winner of the Most Casualties award was 8 years old and his parents let him miss school on Friday to come compete.
4) Darthnoir's (Marcus Ervin) best sportsmanship score was perfect (meaning all 4 of his opponent's rated him most sportsman like of their 4 games)
5) For the second year in a row at GenCon, a team with a Star Player did not go home with a performance trophy (ie 1st, 2nd, 3rd, Most TDs, Most CAS, or Fewest TD allowed)
6) We used the rule that both coaches MUST use the same set of dice for their game. This rule received enormous amounts of feedback as one of the best new tournament ideas the coaches had seen. Thanks to CyberHare who suggested this to me at last year's Underworld Cup.
7) Snots finally got a Lizardman Cheerleader for his collection
8 ) After reviewing everything throughly this morning, I entered everything correctly unlike last year ...
9) The Chaos Cup organizers were at GenCon and are currently planning on using a trimmed down version of our rules for that event in November.
10) The spreadsheet that David Allen (Dangerous Dave) and I created is really working well now and I'll be sending a copy over to the folks at the NAF to post if they so choose.
11) Finally ... 46 coaches (33 NAF) (none of the folks flew over that mentioned that might (other than Wolfgang) so we missed our foreign brethren ... we also took a hit because college and schools are in session so we lost some of those folks). Its still the largest US tournament and the largest NA tournament until we see how many folks attend the Spike. Next year GenCon will be moving to a 5 game format to give everyone more games.
Thanks to everyone that attended ... I think we had a great showing and everything this year went pretty smoothly.

Another observation : most bashy teams finished in the top 50% and most agility teams finished in the bottom 50%.
But chaos dwarves without bull centaurs finishing second? Wow!
Thanks for posting the results so quickly! |

Hmmmmm ... I'm not so sure I agree with that analysis.
If I take the places each race finished in and average them for the tournament I end up with this:
Code:
Chaos Dwarf 3.5
Ogre 11
Halfling 13
Human 13
Lizardmen 14.5
Chaos 16
Goblin 16.5
Wood Elf 18.7
Khemri 20
Orc 20.5
Amazon 22
Dwarf 22
Undead 24
Dark Elf 25.7
Skaven 27.8
Norse 29.6
High Elf 31
I definitely would not call that table overly skewed to strength teams at the top. Slanted a bit ... yes .. but I don't know that I'd say most ST were in the top 50% and most AG were in the bottom 50%. But that's just me ... especially with Humans and Halflings in the top 4 races.

Here's another way to look at the Strength vs Agility comparison for the tournament using the races defined this way:
Code:
Amazon Mixed
Chaos Strength
Chaos Dwarf Strength
Dark Elf Agility
Dwarf Strength
Elf Agility
Goblin Stunty
Halfling Stunty
High Elf Agility
Human Mixed
Khemri Strength
Lizardmen Strength
Necromantic Mixed
Norse Mixed
Nurgle Strength
Ogre Big Guy
Orc Strength
Skaven Fast
Undead Strength
Vampire Mixed
Wood Elf Agility
That's gives you this:
