Can someone help me with this? Did at one time GW Specialist Games announce that they were only going to release new models by game, each year will be devoted to one game only? If so, what year is going to be the BB year? 2007? 2008? |

Pretty sure that schedule they released has been flushed. Now the schedule for all games is "Be happy if you get anything, ever."
But I'm not one of the lucky 1.5 employees working for Specialist games so I may be speaking out my arse. |

They did, but since then funding for Fanatic has basically collapsed so the plan has been abandoned. |

OK, that's what I was afraid of... So when the Slann are official, (they will be more sooner than later it looks) we won't be able to use GW models for them, WYSIWYG. Can't play the team in tourneys requiring only GW models...OUCH!
I thought it hurt enough having to look for old BB snots and figuring out how to convert current WHFB snots. I was hoping to see some new BB snots by GW sometime... well, this MILLENNIUM! Guess I'm outta luck on that one! |

There are 6 2ed BB snot stars still available through mail order. The Slann team won't be offical for atleast a couple years. |

Not sure if 2010 (at the earliest) counts as "sooner" rather than "later".
Plus, they have to be GW models - it doesn't say they have to be GW Slann models. |

Exactly ... Slann are not going to be official for several years. Hopefully Bretonnians never. |

Ok, OK!! I was going by a comment made by Galak in the specialist games forum:
"This team has the highest support from the community to become official of all these new teams the MBBL is testing. Its is fun and so far all testing by online and tabletop leagues shows it is balanced on the side of challenging."
Of course the post mentions trouble getting GW to accept "Athletic Frogs" but all it all this does not sound like a 10 year thing! LRB 7 sounds like a strong possibility for them. Not like Underworld or Brets who are close to not even making it in before LRB 10. That's what I meant by sooner than later. |

Underworld seem to have a far higher chance of making it to official (or semi-official) status than any team apart from maybe Chaos Pact. There's no need for new minis for them and they were an offical second ed team, which are huge points in their favour. |

HERESY! Why not include Brettonians?! At least the powers that be wouldn't be creating a new race with no models to represent it short of using ones that "count as" others... |

According to Galak, there are still some issues that need continued discussion on the Underworld team... namely keeping the Goblins on this team diff than the std BB gobbo. The current experimental roster is going to be changed again in the next BBRC if not sooner. This new roster will have to go through more rigorous playtesting than the Chaos Pact (nicknammed the Chaos All-Star team) and the Slann. The latter 2 teams seem to be closer to their final roster than any other team on the current experimental list.
If models weren't an issue, Slann would be official first, than Chaos Pact, then Underworld, then Brets, then Amazonian. Of course I may be far off on these, If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. I just feel it is a fairly good educated guess from what I've read thus far. Only those in the BBRC know what's going to happen! |

The Slaan have a lot of huge roadblocks to move through (giant oversized toad-shaped roadblocks to be precise) more so than any other experimental team on the cards. The GW suits don't like athletic frogs.
That Underworld Pact roster has already had plenty of testing as it's an old one suggested on TBB a long time ago.
I think if you go back and read the post on specialist games then you'll see that Galak mentions the suprise winning horse for becoming offical might be the Underworld roster. Because of the simple fact that Specialist Games don't like to produce BB minis right now. Chaos Pact has a good shot as well because JJ is very fond of the team.
Amazonians have a good shot as well imo, no need for new minis and the Amazonian roster is a lot more interesting and balanced than the current one.
Edit: In short I'll be suprised if Slaan make to the semi-official status it before Underworld or Chaos Pact. Even though I love the team and the roster... |

To be honest ... the Slann is the best roster of the 4 ... but has the most GW roadblocks to being official.
At this time I'm going to settle for the compromise that GW offered me. Namely ... I'm writing an article for Fanatic online using different versions of Skinks for the Slann players. The article will have the normal BB background of the Slann and then an "alternate universe" type background where the massive toad Slann overlords remember their younger more athletic days when they traveled the stars and spend time breeding a race of leaping stronger skinks to play the game the way they remember it once played 1000s of years ago when they battled the Khemri on the pitch. GW agreed to print the Slann roster in Fanatic Online if I wrote the article so that existing GW figures could be used for the team.
All in all ... seriously ... I would not bet on any new teams being added to the game until somewhere between 2008 and 2010.
GW's allocation of funds to Blood Bowl and SG has a huge bearing on this ... but since the Dwarf team which was mostly finished still isn't in the store and the new Zug isn't either ... I wouldn't hold my breath on any new team being added other than the Underworld roster which doesn't use new figures.

Galak
As, likely, a minority opinion: I wish for the number of teams to contract!
Khemri is a one-tactic, recurring nightmare and, with Necromantic and Vampire, pretty much seems to have made Undead obsolete. Though I must admit that Necro has captured my play style.
Too bloody many elf teams....
Too bloody many chaos teams....
Norse, nice trying to refit them... but who needs 'em....
Ogres... gotta say I love the idea (and adore the old 2ed minis), but the execution lacks... I played 'em and they stink (at least at low levels)....
Amazons... one dimensional dodgers... people finally figured out how to play against them, but the interim was a love-hate relationship of coaches....
Rantings of a lunatic, but I would cut out Amazons, Chaos Dwarfs, Dark Elfs, High Elfs, Khemri, Necro (with a tear), Norse, Nurgle, Ogre, Vampire and Wood Elfs.
THEN, concentrate on expanding player selection (slowly and carefully) for teams to give in-team a bit more flex.
I'd druther 10 solid teams with flex options than the 21 we have now.... |

Is Toby back?
Ok, maybe we have some teams that could but cut out... but definately not so many!
Why out 3 of the 4 elves?!? They're so different and also so fun to play with and against... Cut the senseless Pro and you've done.
Why cutting out 3 of the 4 undead teams? Cut the Undead and you have done .
Ogre have nice miniatures and are difficult to play with and against... why cutting them out?
Norse and Amazons are really much played... yes, they havve all one typical, ability... what's the problem with that?
You said that there were too many Chaos teams (two? ) but you didn't cutted out any of them... why?
What's the problem in having so many teams? Is variety a problem for you? I like to play against different teams... or you prefere to play always against orcs, dwarves and undeads? |
