This is a passing question. If a player with AG 3 has 3 Tackle Zones on him and tries to throw a Short Pass. I know he needs to roll a 6 to be accurate but what does he need to roll to avoid a fumble. I think he needs to roll a 2+ to avoid a fumble. |

5+
Short pass roll of 4 in 3 TZs is modified to a 1 (fumble).
Short pass roll of 5 in 3 TZs is modified to a 2 (inaccurate). |

According to the chard.
Player AG +3 = +3
Die roll 4 = +4
Short Pass = +0
In 3 Tackle Zones = -3
Final total +4 inaccurate no fumble.
You would need a 1 for a fumble. How is what I just put there wrong? |

AG3 is a 4+ on the chart, so with no modifiers you need a 4, 5 or 6 to be accurate.
Short pass has no + modifiers, and the -3 from the TZ leaves a fumble on a 1-4 (4-3=1).
The Agility chart isn't a moder, it's the target number - it's written as 4+, not +4. |

quitedominator, you're doing it backwards (most people do, tbh). Roll the die, add the modifier, check the chart. 4 (roll) -3 (modifier for TZs) = 1 (fumble). |

4+ means 4 or greater.
Regardless
This is what I am understanding from what I am reading,
If you are a AG6 and have 2 TZ on you and roll a 3 it is a fumble. Correct? |

Assuming you are still making a short pass, correct. |

3 (roll) -2 (TZ modifiers) = 1 (fumble)
That's true for any AG. |

There is one slight problem with this. If a modified 1 is always a fumble then why does the chard say D6 Roll Required for a AG6 is 1+ ? Meaning you need a modified 1 or greater for an accurate pass. That does not make sense unless you check for the accurate pass first then the modified 1 next. |

The AG chart is for more than just passing - it's also for dodging, ball handling etc. Anything other than a pass only fails on a natural (unmodified) 1 for AG6 (or a modified result of <1) - dodging into 2 TZs will succeed on 2+, for example:
2 (roll) +1 (dodging) -2 (TZs) = 1 (success)
The passing rules include the statement "if the D6 roll for a pass is 1 or less before or after modification, then the thrower has fumbled and dropped the ball". This overrides the AG6 target of 1+ and, for passing, makes AG6 exactly as good as AG5. |

I have been playing this game for about 2 years. This is the first time I have heard of this. I am going to accept it and use it. But the first time I have 2 TZ on a player and he rolls a 3 and I say it is a fumble I am going to run for the hills. We have some very excitable players in our league. |

that particular rule has worked like that since 1994, it is commonly mistaken though ;] |

Well, you're the first to head to the NAF forums in an attempt to overturn your commissioner. |

That's because the majority of the players in your league aren't on the NAF forums.
I know because I was the commissioner who handed the league over to Gaixo. |
