Hey Rob,
That was Billy -- he was one of my mates at Q'ermitt, the big boy!
Too bad you couldn't make it to the Brouhaha -- I was hoping to play you again! Do your best to make it to the Deathbowl III. Maybe we can make it a three way final to *win* the honour of being the spoon master!

Good one...
Hey, can KarlL. join us for a three-way final? |

Thank God he said "final"
I almost had a wooden spoon at DB I (1-0-4), but VBZ and his humans took the honors after our match-up. I think he ended up doing better than me in the Deathbowl round if I recall though. It just wasn't quite enough to make me take home the spoon.
I almost had the wooden spoon at the Rhody Rampage too. Opus and I battled it out at the bottom table and Ogun (Flesh Golem Extraordinaire) came through with the game-winning TD to stave off spoondom once again. That was a riot of a game.

Results are in! Someone just needs to push the button please
19/20 coaches were NAF members.
(Matches vs. Peace in Varsovia will not count for NAF ranking)
Please let me know if you see any problems, but I double checked the spreadsheet against the paper results and the spreadsheet against what I submitted so we should be good.
Thanks to all of you again for coming out and making The Beantown Brouhaha a wonderful event!!!

Did somebody refresh the rankings? Cause I still have the same!!! On my way of becoming the best Canuck coach, that's a bit of an obstacle!

The data is in, just need a NAF official to "push the button"
Then they should update. For now you can just see your record at the tourney. |

Fred
If you think that's an obstacle...try getting ranked in a real country.
And by the way...in case you want to retort with some sort of George W. jokes...remember his time is almost up!

AP
TORONTO -- The NHL and the players' association wrapped up five days of labor negotiations Friday, slowly moving toward an agreement that will end the lockout.
Talks are scheduled to resume Monday in New York.
"It was a very long week but I think both sides are working really hard to resolve and move the process forward," Bill Daly, the NHL's chief legal officer, said Friday before boarding a plane for New York.
"We continued to make progress this week but there are still some issues that we need to talk about," he added. "We've made significant progress on most of the critical areas but that's all contingent on everything being resolved."
Daly would not say when he thought a deal could finally be done.
"There's a real sense of urgency of tying to get this behind us," Daly said.
The league and union met for about 15 hours a day this week.
"The two parties engaged in lengthy negotiations every day this week, and while progress has been made in a number of areas, there remains a considerable amount of work to be completed in order to reach an agreement," NHLPA senior director Ted Saskin said in a statement.
NHL commissioner Gary Bettman canceled the hockey season Feb. 16 because of the lockout, which started Sept. 16.

The last thing I heard was that the owners want the players to put 25% of their salary for the year in trust... if the league makes less money they they expected, the players are to give money back... that is the linkage..
DO YOU BELIVE THAT??? Would you take a job and if the company did not make ENOUGH money give some back??? If I did a good job.. no way!!! not on your life.. If the following year they said.. you suck.. well offer you this.. ok.. but to hold some of the money earned and then ask for it back????
I would not accept it.... The players are being REAMED UP THE CHuTE... what do they have to loose at this point.. I would stay out. Or on mass go to Europe.. As it is... the new rookie cap they are looking at might see players like Sidney Crosby go to Europe for the first few years... more money than NHL... no longer the primere league it once was.

CEO's and other execs have deferred comp and most of these clowns make more than many CEO's. The NHLPA is corrupt and Bettman is an idiot.
My opinion:
Just get back on the ice you sallies. |

The players just need to realise that the Gravy Train is gone and that the days of milking the owners is over.
1. Would we be expected to give back money if the company was losing money? NO...but we could instead lose our jobs outright. In leiu of that maybe the players should be vested in the profitability of the company. Maybe those players that dog it in the third period might be more inclined to play hard all the time.
Also, look at how this has effected other people who have(had) Hockey-related jobs...they just got axed. Do you think some of them might have preffered to keep their jobs with just some of their salary being linked to the performace of the company?
or...
2. Give the owners the ability to fire players with no financial liability after the severance packages of course.
It might sound inane, but short of this...the comparison of what you and I would experience in the workforce is not relevant to the conversation. Compare apples to apples.
