Ok now I'm sure I'm right on this. A Big Guy that fails a Bone Head roll still can assist teammates in blocks, right? |

Coming from you CS, I wasn't sure whether the title meant that the question was about the bonehead rule , or the question was coming from a bonehead!
My understanding though, is that the bonehead (or Stupid) player loses his/her tackle zone and is NOT able to lend any assists. The same is not true with wild animals who can still assist.

I'm pretty sure that even though you miss your BH roll, you can assist and prevent others from doing so.
As a sub-question though: would you be able to use Guard? What about Foul Appearance? You're still ugly even if you're an idiot! Since you don't have any tackle zones, I guess you can't use your Prehensive Tail anymore though.

Well it says in the rules for lending assists that there are 3 steps...
1. Must be adjacent to the enemy player involved in the block, and...
2. Must not be in the tackle zone of any other player from the opposing team.
3. Must be standing.
It does not say anything about not being able to assist if you do not have a tackle zone. |

Rod,
Look in the rules for bonehead and see what that says - I think that will be the telling one.
SBG - foul appearance will work as you say - because ugly is ugly no matter what. Prehensile Tail would asume that you are exerting a tackle zone, which in this case you are not. As for Guard - I would depend on whether or not you can assit in the first place. If you can - then I don't know whether or not you could use that skill!

If I am not mistaken, this was something that just got changed with the November 2004 BBRC.
I am almost certain that failed Bonehead, Really Stupid, or Wild Animal Rolls elimiate that player from being able to assist or cancel assists. Furthermore, Guard will also not work for one of these folks if their fail roles.
Further-furthermore...They can no longer be the target for a pass.

P.S. This is all assuming that I know what I am talking about. |

This was originally Q&Q'd so that if you lost your tackle zone you could still assist. However this made no sense whatsoever.
You were too stupid to block or move but not too stupid to be helping your friends block? Not paying enough attention to try to trip a player running away from your area of control but paying enough attention to help kick the crap out of someone on the floor who is equally close by? Too busy trying to work out what to do next to perform a pass action but not too busy drooling to catch the ball?
It was changed in the 2004 rule review so that there is no assisting or catching of the ball possible when you have lost your tackle zone.
This also means no to Guard but yes to FA.
Edit: Rob just beat me. D'oh.
Though Wild Animals don't lose their tackle zones. And you can pass to a player without a tackle zone, he just automatically fails the catch. |

You can still be eligible for a pass.
The target of a pass is the square not the player.
You can pass to an empty square. |

The exact wording about the change of bonehead is:
Quote:
Change the last sentence of the Bone Head entry to: The player loses his tackle zone and may not catch the ball, assist either player on a block or foul, or voluntarily move until he manages to roll a 2 or better at the start of a future action.
I think that makes it pretty clear. |
