Having just competed in the Beantown Brouhaha (thanks Melifaxis!), I thought I would share this situation with you all, as it had never happened in any game that I had seen.

On my turn, my opponent's blitzer had possession of the ball one square in front of his own endzone. I got an assist there, and was able to successfully push the blitzer into his own endzone, thus (according to everything I have been told) scoring a touchdown for myself without having the ball.

It *can* happen! Smile

That wasn't a TD. You need to have possession of the ball. Someone holding the ball in your endzone isn't a score for you. If that were so, picking up a scattered ball in your opponent's endzone would result in a TD for him. That would be silly, wouldn't it?

I agree with Snots.

There is a very rare situation mentioned in the rulebook where a player carrying the ball can be one square away from sscoring a touchdown and then be blocked and pushed into the endzone - thereby scoring in the opponent's turn. This is unusual but legal. What you describe is not - it's just a player who is a LONG way from where he wants to be!

One time in my life I've done an endzone to endzone score. Picked up the ball in my opponent's endzone ... long pass and a hand off later we rolled in. Felt really good.

I guess I didn't accurately describe the situation. I *thought* I did .... And I was trying to convince people that it wasn't a TD. Honest. Smile

and for one second I thought there would be a possibility for elf coaches who see their team get bashed to pieces to still score in tese situations without possession of the ball or players left.. Laughing

I think it must have been the Temperature in that place...actually gives me a team name idea. "The Harvard Square Heat."

I'm not sure how The Quebec Contingency does so well in that heat...but they certainly have done well as a group in Boston. (A bit like Chris Nilan vs. an aging Terry O'Reilly.)

It's easy Rob: we ALWAYS do well! Heat, blizzard, rainfall, earthquake: bring it on! We'll rule anyway! Wink
